I enjoy how now it's a problem Goggle bought a free-information video website, throttled the video bandwidth to force you to reload videos every 5 seconds, saturated it in ads and tracking systems, forced copyright protection on non-US viewers [see: Australia], and yet integration with their deserted social media thing is what makes people mad.

Don't get me wrong. I've always hated Youtube. It's just not this one thing that upsets me. If you allow a corporation to take over your hub of activity and act with apathy until the point where they've changed everything for the worse and then you care.. I can't have much sympathy. Its like the guy claiming fire insurance is useless until his house burns down.

Dunno if people are supportive of 'old' Youtube or simply want a normal video site without the tracking bells and whistles. I'd think it's the latter. Fuck Youtube.

I have no idea what happens to Youtube-unique accounts though.. Purgatory?

To be fair, aside from the copyright protection thing, all the others weren't obvious to the average user.

In the days when Sussman was a novice, Minsky once came to him as he sat hacking at the PDP-6.
“What are you doing?”, asked Minsky. “I am training a randomly wired neural net to play Tic-Tac-Toe” Sussman replied. “Why is the net wired randomly?”, asked Minsky. “I do not want it to have any preconceptions of how to play”, Sussman said.
Minsky then shut his eyes. “Why do you close your eyes?”, Sussman asked his teacher.
“So that the room will be empty.”
At that moment, Sussman was enlightened.

I do hope they change it back, but I'm not putting my name down on any petitions or anything. That's because the few cases in which Google has my actual name and phone number are for accounts I don't use on Youtube; so unlike some poor souls, I'm not stuck using anything that might resemble my real name. Also, I'll continue to use Youtube just because it's pretty much the only video joint in town that has stuff I actually care about. It's few, far between, and most of it's threatening to piss off of Youtube until Google removes its head from its rectal cavity, but until they actually follow through...

Then again, I have heard some interesting things about Vimeo; maybe if I ever decide to start making videos for kicks, I'll put them up there and tell Youtube to go fuck itself - then again, that wouldn't be necessary since it's doing such a good job of that already.

I am displeased.
Even Critikal had to comment on how stupid this is.

The merging of YouTube and more personal aspects of Google is partly to do with a poorly researched method of combating trolling and hating.
The idea is, if someone's name accompanies their words, they will be more cautious with their words.
Proper studies showed that this wasn't nearly as effective as eye contact.
They should have created a well placed mascot or something to exploit that.
And they can safely pull off creating a mascot by making an animesona of YouTube, although they might be accused of copying Microsoft.

If they made a Moe Anthropomorphism, they'd be copying more than microsoft.

There'd also probably be complaints anyway because calling youtube changes terrible is a thing of its own.

Watch in a few years they'll let us post pictures in the comments.

If they ever allow us to post pictures in the comments, then I'll do without videos on the internet.

To anyone who hasn't done so yet, please do us a favor and go to http://tiny.cc/YouTbe and sign that GODDAMN PETITION.
Assuming that Google even cares about this.

Also, I find it funny how they said that they wanted to make the comments better and yet they removed the spam button and removed the character limit (yeah, they did add the expand/collapse button, sure).

This is just an attempt to give a boost to their shitty social network. They really only report how many actions have been made on the website, and are probably going to use youtube comments to make it "look" like it's as good as facebook.

I wonder how many petitions have been ignored by google?
As many petitions have been ignored as there have been bots to sign them.

So, apparently Google is going to suspend my Google+ account, which I only had because they decided I want to have it, my opinion be damned, because I'm not going to comment on YouTube using MY OWN REAL BLOODY NAME. And even though there IS an option to set a pseudonym, IT WILL ONLY BE DISPLAYED ALONG AND NOT INSTEAD OF YOUR REAL NAME.

Plus, I cannot even set my privacy settings because the data apparently goes into limbo instead of a server once I click the save button, and it just 'saves' it for HOURS.

*cough* Google, please check your motto. Now check your policies. Now check your motto again. Now fix this shit ASAP.

That's odd, I still post as my nick name. I have to choose to use it over the Google+ version each time I log in, which might be a little annoying I guess, but ehh. I've been doing that since the change before this one; nothing actually changed for me at all.
