Alan, Wizard

"Never fear! Mystical food man is also here!"

Hey remember that one time when I charged a basketball somehow and it came out all flaming purple? I wanna try that again, only with a carrot. Charge the carrot with my Alanistic forces!
Oh dear.

Campaign, Ike!

"Black zombies! That's the kind of thing an army of rednecks would be well-equipped to handle," Ike murmurs to nobody in particular. "But the Yellowhammer State this is certainly not."

"Right!" says he at the crowd that has gathered. "Any of you people have more than sticks to fight these zombies with?"

Ike then gives Irine a glance.
"What few guardsmen were in our village are not here, so I cannot-"
"I can handle a bow." one of them says, a small but tough looking man.
"We will have to go through my house to get it, but it's right next to the wall. I can also give you clubs and knives when we get there."
"We can also get rags and fuel from here." the younger man says, indicating the nearby building.
"We can set our weapons on fire, like torches."
"Arkos and Melithos still have horses. If they let us use them, it could give us an advantage." a third suggests.
"You know anything about mounted fighting?" the older man asks.
"No but-"
"Then how exactly are you going to use them and not end up getting dead? You could just fall off and break your neck with the first hit."
"I... could use a long stake as a spear?"
"There's also the Guardsmen Barracks. They might have some spare equipment in there."
"And we can get hammers and stakes from here."
"There might also be something useful in the temple. You know about magic. You should be able to find anything useful there."

There are more men volunteering, about a dozen more of them, but none of them seem to have any good weapons or armour. Some of them are eager, others look like they are forcing themselves to do this, but none of them have any combat experience from what you can tell.

Determine whether this lot looks more like zombie apocalypse survivors or your average mass of dead meat.
Honestly? Dead meat. I mean, you'd expect the classic distribution of deaths for a zombie movie. Most will die, one will prove incredibly useful, one will be protected and then earn his place, one will make a heroic sacrifice, etcetera, etcetera. But you're pretty sure that if those guys had to endure the same things you have, then they would be long dead.

That's not to say they won't be useful. Meatshields are always nice. Especially eager, volunteering meatshields fighting for something important to them. As long as they don't get in your way, they could be helpful.

"Um, if those things are afraid of light and flame, then I think I can help, but I want to give you fair warning first. I'm a specialist that works exclusively with fire. If I go in there and fight those things, a lot of stuff could get burned down. I'll try to control the damage, but don't get your hearts set on having anything make it through this unscathed. Are you okay with that?"
A few people don't seem to enjoy the idea of becoming homeless and insist on requesting for help and waiting for someone more qualified to arrive or for the crisis to resolve itself. However most of them seem to agree that the situation is bad enough for any collateral damage to not matter, as long as it is necessary and as long as such collateral damage doesn't involve any of their loved ones that might have stayed behind.

"Sir with the bow waiting for him in town, would you please get yourself a small bundle of torches, one of them lit, and come with me to guide?"
unless DAF / Tiruin are ready to play, then I'd like to leave their characters here to help guard the locals.
speed is important, as soon as my guide is ready, I'll move out towards the town, following his guidance as to the route to take.

((I'm leaving if we move as a group or separately up to Ike / Alan. separate we can cover more ground and search faster, group is safer.))

after we get moving:
"Sir, I'm going to move that ball of flame over the village to us, in case we get attacked. Please don't be scared, it's under my control."
after warning my guide, I'm bringing the giant ball of flame from the housefire to hover over us. and illuminate the area around us like a gigantic torch over our heads.

<Hey, D, you awake?>
I gently poke D through our link.

He doesn't finish his sentence.
<Besides, my power is really limited here. Sure, I might be more experienced and have some unique skills, but I bet you could do most of the things I would be able to do without my help. Kosak Durar, After The End:

"Wait a minute- shouldn't I be able to see?"

Fact: dwarves don't use light sources(see Dwarf Fortress). Fact: unless they lose their eyes, they can still see anyway(see Dwarf Fortress). Kosak attempts to activate his darkvision.
Aha! But what about adventure mode dwarves? They have the same troubles with the dark as anyone else, no? And their raw files? They don't have any extravision tags. But anyway, let's let you have that one.

Do you want to move on to something more fun?

Walking Tank, After the End

Spoiler (click to show/hide)
Saevus trains his golden arm towards the source of the noise and begins advancing. A moment later, a flashbang flies out from behind the couch and towards his face. But this time he's better prepared. He blasts the flashbang away and crushes it against a wall. It still explodes, but it only worsens his vision and leaves his hearing unharmed, making everything appear with a very low contrast and high illumination instead of blinding him completely.

: -have also destroyed a jamming device that was- :

Svajoklis jumps out of cover and attempts to run away, but a telekinetic blast catches him in the legs. It doesn't harm him significantly, but it throws him around and slams him against the floor. He scrambles and tries to get moving again, knowing that standing still is as good as being dead.

: -interfering with our comms. We have started regaining- :

Saevus is momentarily destructed by Limpy getting out of hiding and shooting him in the back with his rifle. One of the rounds gets through his shield, scratching his armour and messing up one of his runes. Saevus turns around, forced to defend himself, and blasts the offender with a telekinetic wave. The couch his was taking cover behind flies towards Limpy, crushing him and trapping him against the wall.

: -control of central systems and are sending a team up to- :

The elevator arrives with a ding. It's on the east side of the room. Saevus is close to the centre of the room, facing north. Limpy is crushed against the north side of the room. Svajoklis has just scrambled back to his feet on the south side of the room.

((Dangit, I said Flail, not Splash.  :P))

WMD, After the End
Walk backwards. Unleash all the weapons at my foe with all the power I can muster.
You manage to back away a bit, back into the room you were originally in, but you are starting to feel a lot weaker. Your limbs have started retracting back into your body. You think you're either dying or turning human, and you're not sure that second option is that far away from the first. This may very well be the final long-range attack you'll be able to use for now. You might want to make it count.
Rune-Blastbear generates a very dense layer of skin quite a way under the exterior layer, then absorbs the melting skin within. He attempts to use this additional biomass he is re-absorbing to strengthen this new tough layer of skin to be resistant to any environmental hazard.

He moves closer and fires again, aiming more carefully.

Rune looks like a living wax statue trying to keep itself from melting as he tries to keep things vital to his survival from leaving his body or getting rearranged inside him. He moves forward and hides behind a piece of concrete that has fallen from the crumbling roof and manages to keep himself alive for now, but just barely. Or should I say... bearly?

"Do you ever get the idea that someone has powers that are a very good counter to yours? You know I actually knew someone whose power set was pretty much to counter peoples's abilities. She was pretty nice too."

==After The End==

<Oh, thanks.>

To yonder elevator!

Alex tries to run away to the elevator. Bryan raises his gun and gets ready to shoot, now having a better shot.
The shot finds Alex close to the heart, shooting out a fountain of blood. He falls like a broken bird, tumbling down the outer shell of the cannon to his death.

<Hm. I expected more.>

Enlarge one vortex to cool that hot strip, and use the other to watch Toaster. Shout out a direction to dodge in when shit goes down.
((Read below.))
John growled at the drone, then very quickly glanced at his companion.  Would she be any more help after that attack?

Gun it!  Get past this drone!  Is the lady able to defend?  If no, take over on defense while getting past the drone.  If yes, fire a few more potshots; aiming isn't priority, just fire.
She is shaken, but alive. The car is not doing so well though. The strike must have hit some of the batteries. It's losing power.

You shoot, but the shot is way off, hitting a support column instead and completely disintegrating it.

The drone launches the two missiles hanging from it.
"Blue Right!" you yell.
The missiles break apart in mid-air, becoming dozens of points of light that dart around towards every part of the road.
You're certain this is it, that you're going to die, when a bunch of the missiles heading for you explode.
Phew. Looks like she did follow your advice this time.
Wait, what are you saying? You have a bunch of missiles that are going to explode near you and you're in the middle of a high speed chase. Sure, they may not be heading right towards you anymore, but this is hardly ideal.

<I don't doubt what I can do, I just doubt my ability to detect what I need to be doing. But I think this is related to what we saw before, isn't it. What you saw scared you. You're afraid you're hurting me somehow. What exactly did what we saw mean? Do you think you're eating away at me or something?>
<Frankly? Yes. I saw a part of me merged with a part of you. And... I saw that I could use it. If I wanted to. I could push in, go for more.

I think it might be related to our nature. Bond-formers are like you, in a way. Mind, body, soul, and their bonds, they're all one. And we are both missing pieces of ourselves. But bond-former magic... well, how do I explain this? It changes things. It's linked to more and to the memory of our kind and of itself. And it's not meant to be messed with unless you know what you're doing. It doesn't like that.

And, well, it might be helpful now, but who knows what will happen in the future? This isn't exactly an exact science nor do I have the power to analyze and control this. I could end up taking over your body and soul, eating you. And that would be a mighty big fail when I'm supposed to be here to help you. Eating my friends, not very enjoyable for me. Well, not with that meaning of the word anyway, hehe. Or I could end up stifling you, merging with you, changing you, replacing pieces of yourself, your body, your memories, forcing you to do things, who knows what else? Everything is one. Even if everything turns out OK and it ends up with us merely getting really close, what happens when this mission ends? When I have to die? I won't be able to simply... leave.>

<So... yeah. Fuck that shit. I'll just have to keep away, ignore this and be awesome without my abilities.>

Rush Svajoklis and tackle him to the ground if I manage to get close enough. If I manage to tackle him, his face gets the Golden Arm treatment. If he manages to evade me, use the crossbow.

Time to focus on driving; both in avoiding those explosions and trying to get closer.
