I really ran it into the ground though, and it died due to some compiler crap if I remember, so it was really mid-process at the time.  It would require quite a bit of dedication to clean it up, assuming it could be located.  It's not on this computer, although about 400 of the BASIC files are, including the original BASIC version of Dragslay, he he heh....  man, the dragslay.bas file says "Modified: Friday, May 01, 1992, 12:26:04 PM", which would make mean I had just turned 14, but I think that might be pushed forward a bit by some later changes, since I'm pretty sure I was still living in California when I started it (I think I left California Feb '92).

Damn that is majorly old school... I played the summer '96 version. You should  release planes too, I played that for a year straight. Star Captain was fun too... Okay, I'm stopping now.

I haven't found any of my C stuff yet.

I can run BASIC dragslay inside of QBasic 1.1, but I'm not sure QBasic has an exe compiler, and a BAS -> EXE compiler I found online runs into syntax errors I don't understand because I've forgotten all of my BASIC.

: : : Dose anyone know a program or some way to convert the .bas files from "micorsoft quickbasic" (found on my win98se cd) into .exe? or how to go about doing that.
: : :
: : :
: : :
: : Open the .bas file with quickbasic and select "Make EXE File..." from the Run menu.
: :
: I don't have that option in the run menu and it says in the help file to use microsoft visual basic or another compiler.(this is what the about said "MS DOS QBasic v 1.1")
:

":Ah, indeed QBasic 1.1 didn't include a compiler. However, instead of using VB for DOS, I recommend, that you download QuickBasic 4.5 and use that instead of QBasic 1.1 for both editing and compiling to exe."
from some forum...

I also have QBX, which didn't have the BC.exe it needs to compile.  First Basic and Free Basic won't compile without millions of errors.  QB4.5 is only obtainable through illegal means, it seems.

Here's a screenshot, anyway (this is BASIC dragslay, not the later C dragslay):

Nah, the QB one wasn't as interesting, and it had issues.  And a variable named shlong for no reason apparently.  I guess that's better than having a reason.  I think you'd fight ten or so creatures, then a dragon, and the dragons were fixed like Tim the Red Dragon and Iggy the Green Dragon and Leo the Water Dragon, or something like that.  You'd find potions to increase your IQ, and once your IQ hit...  200 or 250 or something, you could start casting spells.  I think there were seven or eight of them, and a few standard DNDish weapons.  I think you could get poisoned, and taking three head shots beheads you...  don't remember what else.  It had snakemen, cobra snakemen and king cobra snakemen.  The Animal Peoples were alive and well even back then.

Damn that old version pales compared to the later one. The sum '96 version had the temples, bars, getting ambushed in your sleep, creatures assaulting towns and you getting blamed for their destruction if you ran away, and who could forget hiring drunks to join you by buying them beer   :) and some other fun shit. I'm not sure what you added after that version though.
