I started off my game as Stephen. There's not a whole lot to do as a chef, is there? I've generally been cooking, getting dirty, using all my movement to get to the shower, showering, then lying down. The recharge rate is abysmal. Even if it was 2 per cycle each, it would make things way nicer. I'm afraid to explore anything other than the kitchen, because I don't want to be sitting around in the storage rooms, waiting to regain my strength. At least Stephen has the excuse of looking like a fat bastard to explain why he takes 6 hours to get from the shower to his station.

From what I understand, Stephen is the jack of all trades. His second skill lets him lug around heavy things and hit harder. He's a good Mush hunter. He's the guy who moves stuff where they belong, like taking spacesuits and equipment to Icarus bay. Mans the turrets when the Hunters attack. Helps out with the communications to Sol. Puts out fires. So like a janitor too.

He's an excellent first character, because he doesn't have any responsibilities. Paola and Frieda have to hang around the bridge. Jin Su and Janice needs to hang around the dorms boosting morale. Hua and Chao need to man the defenses. The scientists do science work. So yeah, he's fun because he doesn't really have to do anything.

Also you shouldn't be cooking on the first day because cooked rations spoil. I think they fixed that by having spoiling start on Day 3 or so but it's not really documented anywhere.

The overzealous and impatient Chao got himself killed, because the commander was not active enough for him.  Well deserved retaliation actually.

I'm not sure if I like the concept of having the classes be defined characters. One of the funner parts of Die2Nite for me was roleplaying my character as I played, and having them be the same characters every time kinda diminishes that fun for me...

*Shrug* I guess they'll be somewhat more customizable when you have more skills available?  Unless the first skill can't be changed. 
They may look the same each time, but I guess they all play differently and you can just characterize em differently.
Like how I had Hua keep on calling herself the Great and Skillful Hua and all that on my first ship.  I probably could have done something else for my Stephen right now, but I failed to characterize him and keep it up.

I got my first kill, I had an abundance of AP so I wandered down to the refectory where their was supposed to be a mush, I hit hit many times and managed to kill him. Unless it doesn't show that they are mush unless they are analyzed or something... I guess I just killed an innocent crew member...  :-\

I find that it makes roleplaying a lot more fun. If you don't mind roleplaying certain characters. I pick character based on the mood I'm in... went for Jin Su because I wanted an arrogant, bossy, yet cheerful guy. The problem is that nobody else reads the bios, and few roleplay. And when they do, they often get the personalities off. Like stephen and giole are shy in my game and Ian can be a little aggressive.

The characters are all very well made, imo. Was sceptical about it when I first saw it, but turns out well. They match their skill set too. There's room for interpretation too, so you could play terrence as a bitter, combat phobic guy, or say that his skill with machines is because he had to rely on them. Or even play him like Bubba from Forrest Gump.

Hmm.. I have a nasty inkling that I just experienced some metagaming. I think two of my crew were working together from the start - one mush and one non-mush. The non-mush did several suspicious and damaging things long before he was converted into mush by his accomplice - such as tearing up Eleesha's printout of mush suspects. Other than that it was a fun game, considering a third of the crew were inactive - but when it's effectively 3 mush against 6 active crew, the Daedalus doesn't have much hope (especially when you run into a huge spawn of hunters at the wrong time, and the captain is mush so we can't move the ship). That said, I survived 3 days longer than in my first game.

I kinda like this game. Sure, the pace is slow, but that's alright. I'm in a (newbie?) game right now with a relatively active crew (so far), and I'm enjoying it to a reasonable degree.

Hua then accuses me of being mush for cooking food, while stephan the previous captain goes on about how I couldn't be mush because I had eaten food and such, anyway we then started talking and I went into the refectory and killed Hua, because there were three mush and the chances of him being a mush were quite high; sadly though, he wasn't a mush and I now have two innocent kills under my belt.  :-\

I have that problem in my game too... the captain of the ship just died, 'cause he killed the mutineer'.  Neither were mush.  People going off and making big decisions on their own.... or in some secret council I am not privy to.  Doesn't help that the mush are probably saying: "That guy is probably a mush, we should do something about it."  and "Look, he is being suspicious!  Probably a mush!"
Ah... Daedelus, sitcom of paranoia and impatience.

On another note, my character managed to do the thing with someone who was low on morale.  I don't think the other character is a mush.

Lol, I'm sure many of you have played Mafia since we have a subforum for it. Mush has very different strategy. In Mafia, you want to accuse and lynch quickly... people buckle under pressure and expose themselves as Mafia. In Mush, it's unlikely for anyone to every have 3 mush in a room at a time. Mush are very easily exposed when they make any moves at all. And every innocent death has horrible consequences - it hits morale directly. I'd say never lynch until you're 90% sure. The smart, subtle mushes are actually helpful to the ship - they shoot down planes, fix things, maintain communications and so on. The dumb ones out themselves early. I think converting people is also very high on mush glory points so it's way better than wrecking the ship.

If you're playing as mush it seems smart to actually build up a culture of witch hunting and paranoia. Don't actually accuse people directly, just amplify existing paranoia and wait for someone to accuse the wrong person.

My ship is at 6 oxygen and we're all dead in 6 cycles. Tip: Always get a planet with oxygen on your first trip, or at least some plants. Especially if you think plant lover Ian might be a mush.

We're also low on morale since Chun killed herself from depression and either Jin Su or Janice is the mush.

This game looks really fun, I clocked a bit of time into Die2Nite a while back, and I'm playing ss13 atm. I might make an account and try it out when I get home :P

Ship low on oxygen. Just moved ship to a planet we might be able to get o2 from. Wait Hua just died, she who gets on about once a day and does not always speak just died?

I just saw her half a cycle ago!

Cause of Death: Abandonment

Tracker shows that equipment in the shape of a fighter is damaged in bravo bay.

Oh...

Well... She should have read the messages before flying out to fight hunters.
