Captchas are created by robots. Of course they can be solved by them. We were stupid to ever trust them.

Question: does this guy seem like one of the more "sentient" spambots? http://www.bay12forums.com/smf/index.php?action=profile;area=showposts;sa=messages;u=101457

Either that or he's a human agent making regular posts while having the links in his sig to attract attention.

It's a spambot. It's lifting text from other peoples posts to put in it's own. The third one is lifted from the post directly above it. The first is from Deon's post earlier in the thread.

That's slightly more clever than the kitchen stuff, I guess.

That was readily obvious...

That is quite clever actually.

With a quick glance, it actually seems legit. You have to search a bit further to work out that it is just a bot.

That could make moderating harder than "something something kitchens" *ban*, and given the big pile of crap moderators probably have to sift through, a slight increase in the time it takes to confirm a spam post could add up quickly...

Has Toady/ThreeToe ever thought about allowing anyone else to moderate?

There are apparently additional moderators on two boards - Kurtulmak on the Slaves to Armok board and Jonathan S. Fox on the Curses board.

Has Toady/ThreeToe ever thought about allowing anyone else to moderate?

This has been discussed previously. Toady has said there's no need for more moderators or anything like that, the only issue with bots is when people inflate the spambot threads, which is why this thread was made.

Also, be careful not to violate this:
Clarification: This thread is not meant to be about discussing what we can do about the bots or proposing new systems to deal with them. This thread is specifically for moving all posts users would make in a spambot thread that would later be removed and posted here instead.

I kind of liked the passport one. It was hilariously upfront about it.
