And which should I use? As of now I am using LNP but is there any benefit to using the other over LNP? Thanks...

LNP is just a easy config screen to change some stuff in what's basically the vanilla game. A graphic pack or two, turn off aquifers with the click of a button, easy access to the init files, that sort of thing.

Masterwork is a huge mountain of random mods smooshed together into one unholy clusterfuck.

It offers a lot more, but it's not for everyone.

The difference:

LNP = DF + utilities that make the game easier to control + graphic packs.
MasterworkDF = DF + utilities that make the game easier to control + graphic packs + mods (extra ingame content, not written by Toady One)

If you are a new player, I'd recommend to stick to the LNP.

Play vanilla till it bores you to tears then get stuck into masterwork. When that starts to shit you, test out the other races. When your done with that wait for Toady to release an update.
