The Turbulent Era
« on: November 03, 2013, 08:05:54 pm »

The all-seeing monks cast their unerring sight across the expanse of the kingdom. From the sunny shores of Naros-in-the-West, to the stony cliffs and pine forests of the Great North, they observe dark portents in the Empire of Man. They can hear the angels wailing in terror, and they can feel the heavens quaking. They quickly send a messenger out from their convent in the Tower of the Eye, fearing it may be too late.

Who are you?

A. A knight in service to the Empire of Man

B. A blood-knight of the Barrow-land

C. A gladiator fighting in the pits

Drums beat and the gates begin to open. You swagger onto the sands and the crowd cheers. You are a well known pit-fighter, dubbed "Gratuitous Maximus" by your fans. You fight with only a pair of boots on your feet, a wolf pelt around your waist, and a dagger in each hand. Your pecs are exceedingly manly. You assess the field of combat.

The pit is fairly standard, with a few small changes. The field is a large circular pit with a floor of sand. The fans, hungry for bloodshed, are sitting in stands on the edge of the pit. There is a wooden platform in the center of the field, raised up on rough wooden scaffolding. To your right is a stone column with a length of rusty chain hanging from it. at the end of the chain is a jagged iron mace-head. To your left is a plain sandy area.

You can hear cries of awe and terror from the far-side of the arena. You doubt you're fighting a human opponent.

Which direction will you advance?

A. To the top of the platform

B. To the stone pillar

C. To the left

A: that we might asses the situation and be in position to attack our opponent from above.
