calm down, this is a slow-update game, I wouldn't even worry about it until this weekend is over.

Well ... I might have been annoyed some two years ago by it taking a week to get all the actions in and just let it die.

But I am now slightly jaded/used to the idea that some people have other things to do than post on a forum related to fortresses, well caffeinated, and writing a turn. If all goes well I'll get around to writing a turn for that other game today, too.

{6} - Ari attaches the prototype generator to the Trailsapper, and rigs up a secondary lift system. With just one generator, it should be able to make an emergency crash relatively safely, depending on damage. Four generators would be enough to act as a full-fledged secondary propulsion system, but would need to be either outside, and vulnerable, or inside, and taking valuable space. She begins re-tooling the factory for power generators, since it's not doing anything else.
{3} - She works with Unen to get a power network up. Her task is slightly modifying the generators so they output to his crystals. By the end of the month, she has a technically-usable method, but the system loses about 60% of the power going from the generators to the network. She's confident she could improve this with more time. Converting the generators is fast and relatively simple. (Free action until you have 11 generators. This will not necessarily hold true for later modifications you may design.)
((Having this power network will count as a magical resource. It will have strictly limited 'special' uses when compared with, say, an unknown magical flower. If you've read the factory details recently, I added in a bonus to the production of some items if you have a wider variety of magical resources. Stored Barons do count as a magical resource for the factory, even if they're your only magical resource.))

{3}, {6} - Edna spends the month growing something, leading eight other wizards. She wanted more, but eight was all she could get diverted from the harvest. She has mostly grown eight rather large house-trees in a perfect octagon, plus another in the middle. She needs more time for the rest of her project, and to finish the first part. Someone estimates that, at its current size, it could comfortably house nearly 100 people.

{5}+1, {5}+1 - Unen works at a startling speed, designing a complete mana relay network for the fledgling colony, in three parts. The first part of the network absorbs ambient mana, although at too minor a rate to be particularly 'useful' for an industrialized society. Most of the network is for storage and quickly recharging adjacent magical objects. The third part is relay nodes, only able to store a small amount of mana, but capable of transferring mana to and from the other parts or each other.
The nodes are typically made as rocky spheres, but could be given other forms.
Unen needs to lead factory efforts for two weeks (after re-tooling) to make enough nodes for the colony.

{3} - The farmers are initially apprehensive about accepting Gordon's penance, but every magical hand helps during harvest-time, and they mostly accept that he's not terrifyingly dangerous by the end of the month.
{4} - Milly spends the month analyzing the (powered-down) golem. By the end of the month, she has fairly well pin-pointed the instigator of it writing as a dryad-like being about five day's march to the north. She was unable to discern its method of control. {Hidden roll} - She states that her magical tests indicated it to have intelligence slightly less than human norm, and, as she whimsically tested, sapience.

((Golems are usually made with only the most basic, near-modern-AI-level 'intelligence.' A handful of intensive experiments have made smart golems.
Zedas: You were trying to create the standard kind.))

{5} - Zedas decomposes timber to create more fertilizer for the next crop.
{1} - His attempts to expedite the growth of new seeds goes poorly, and they are wasted.

Spoiler: Map (click to show/hide)

The Trailsapper is being retrofitted with a generator.

{5} - The harvest improves morale. A minor fire burns some crops, but the wizards helping with the harvest promptly quashed it with water from the adjacent river. All-together, enough food to last the colony for another 12 months is harvested.
{3} - The house-trees aren't dealing well with the cold, and are beginning to wither. They're still alive, but slumbering, and not re-growing leaves or even trying to spread through their roots. People are starting to complain, since the leaves were really quite tasty and they're having trouble getting the now-dead leaves out of their minds.
The construction workers pick up their pace slightly, but still too slow. The weather is rapidly growing colder. Even triple-packing people into houses would leave 350 dangerously exposed to the cold. Either get 4 Barons and adequate means of magically heating them, or hope that the construction workers build fast enough and that enough people may be stuffed into Edna's new structure. (The Trailsapper's generator may be used for this as-is, if it remains grounded.)

Morale is poor.

((Well, plus it was the holidays.

Also Edna's going to start immediately drooling if she hears about that dryad.))

Edna sighed. That pretty much clinched it: her house-trees' delicious leaves were probably slightly addictive.

Not that that was entirely bad from the perspective of the mistress of the trees, but it was still something she'd have to look into and probably deal with.

Elsewhere, of course, things were pretty much the same as always- peasants freezing to death, mutationist needed badly, grand projects requiring more time, so on and so forth. The harvest had gone off magnificently, at least; she'd honestly been expecting another crisis on that front.

Unfortunately, she was currently caught in a sort of perfect storm of uselessness. Her primary method of housing people needed investigation and adjustment; while she certainly could just grow them more houses, it wasn't really ideal. At a minimum, she'd likely need to house people in her project- finished or not- for the foreseeable future.

On the bright side, even half-finished her project was rather expansive. Assuming the carpenters could do anything at all, nobody was likely in danger of literally freezing to death, just being crammed in three times as dense as they'd like to be. That was still a problem, but it was a problem that could wait for a better solution.

Give the go-ahead to stuff people into my unfinished project. Make sure the giant scorpions are comfortable and safe as well.

Begin an in-depth study of my house trees and some subjects who have eaten the leaves. Attempt to discern exactly what the effects of the leaves are and why.
Study natural wildlife and my house trees in an effort to estimate this world's seasonal specifics, why my trees are going dormant, and possible solutions/the likely side effects of altering them to grow year-round.

Implement the power network design, remembering to avoid placing any collectors near my bunker but to keep a charging station and moderately large storage unit inside for my own use. afterwards teach someone how to build the thermal goggles design properly so I don't have to waste time supervising their construction.

I haven't posted a turn in a week, but we only have 60% attendance on the turn.

So.

(Sorry!)
Diary of Zedas Piek
[Complex diagrams of alcohol sale and purchase] [Extremely complex sums attempting to calculate why the Emperor's Head isn't successful.]
I feel awful, running a pub. What do you do? I know that the Government request permission. Everyone was angry with his boss. I am going to have to embarrass the Governor.
Discuss with governor the critically low morale. Mention the possibility of creating Zedas Is Best Wizard Colonization Day, where everyone gets a day off work and luxury commodities like wine and high-class food. This would rapidly increase morale and possibly get more money in for the state if the cards were played right

I don't think he said that much, just implied that he was ready to go aside from attendance issues.

I also PM'd Draig a bit earlier. :x

((Ah. Shit.

I'm debating whether or not I should let Gordon be eaten by vengeful peasants. Between college and going to back to work for one of my old professors, I may have to pull back to the bare minimum of RTDs.

Which reminds me. Lenglon, my absence from a Storm's Coming has kept a good RTD down long enough. Kill off Sue Merik, or do whatever you feel like to him/her. It was a fun character, but I can't do it justice anymore. ))

Earthshape ditches into the ground, placed in a grid format that will connect to the leafy sprawl that the mutationist created. The ditches shall be ten feet wide and four inches deep. The bottom two inches will be filled with a gravel mixture, principally attained from the waste materials of the primary shaping.

Using the ditches as conduits to safely carry to the liquid stone, reattempt the stoneflow from before. Same parameters.  One to two story homes on the grid, intersperse with lots that can be shaped into better buildings. Leave residual stoneflow in the ditches so as to fill them and create solid roads.
