My fortress lived long enough to deserve a Queen. That queen is a vampire with 3000+ kills, mostly dwarves. Her husband consort is a necromancer. He promptly raised all the recent dead. Recommendations?

Do the zombies take jobs and work like normal dwarves would? Are they hostile to your dwarves? if you answer Yes, and No, then you have Zombie Fortress for the win!

Isolate the husband and never let him out, a danger room will get him into good enough shape to move and work as quickly as a normal, not-alcohol withdrawing dwarf.

Make the queen a nursery

The zombies are hostile, but pathetic. They caused no causalities, minus a little bridge mishap when some babies and others got crushed. They should know better than to crowd there.

Unfortunately, I cant do much with the Necro because he runs away whenever someone gets near him. However, he will go to a burrow. As a result, I have walled him off in a long hallway. I think I will create that zombie type danger room to get some use out of him.

You can use a combination of raised draw bridges and fortifications to use the necromancer to selectively raise the dead. I like dropping goats from a few Z-levels and then having my army repeatedly fight the animated corpses, not as fast as a danger room but nowhere near as exploity.

Best combo EVER! Use your Queen to operate an elaborate system of levers and raise an army of elven/goblin corpses. CRUSH YOUR ENEMIES.

You'll need a room to draw the zombies back inside of course, a kitten on a rope should suffice.

Do they attack the queen?

If he dies, will the fortress fall? Coz christ, a necromancer would be an amazing way to prevent the fortress dying. Just kill everyone and make it a zombie fortress. Disable all traps and airlocks, let the goblins TRY to get past the zombies.

You can infect other dorfs with vampirism by having them drink water laced with vamp blood, right? So you could make all your dorfs vampires, and then do all the aforementioned zombie fortress ideas, and your civilians wouldn't be scared of them. Work speed goes down a bit, but that's ok.

A.k.a, Zombies won't attack your dwarfs if they are vampires, leading to you starting the acopalyspe on all who resist. Also, any caravan will be destroyed unless you set up a zombie-free route to your trade depot, meaning that magma is obsolete unless used to create flaming zombies (which, incidentally, are the best use of your zombies if you're trying to take down a forgotten beast in a hurry).

The work speed will go down because vampire dwarfs won't drink alcohol, but still need it to "get through the working day.

As a mayor I certainly wouldn't suggest said queen and army of horrors should visit. I'd just send letters that we're infested with giant keas and woke a forgotten beast made of steel with a poisoned breath.
