Now I suspect people will try to blow up various pieces of machinery by inserting random magical objects until the whole thing explodes.

Or the magic just fizzles first.

I have a ruleset for what triggers malignant interactions and what doesn't. but it isn't common knowledge even among expert artificers and magic users because attempts to figure it out often break the testing apparatus without a clear result. If you want to try to figure it out yourself, you're welcome to break things and blow yourself up in the attempt.

Well crap. I had kinda intended/imagined that the radiation DAMAGE was what was transferred. I.E. that he kicked things and he immediately stopped puking up his spleen. I'm fully ok if the damage isn't immediately transferred to the enemy, but I certainly don't want him to get progressively more dead every time combat starts (well, at least not without actually getting hurt normally :P)
...The spleen isn't connected to your digestive tract an-
Quote
But the reality screwing is what makes it so AWESOME!

EDITFOREXTRACLARITY: Ok so this is turning out HILARIOUSLY hard to actually convey, but basically I see the "pumps rads into the user" as a sort of "clip" in this case. Basically the gun has infinite ammo, but if Joe fires it too long then instead of the gun just not shooting any longer, Joe doubles over and develops cancer :P
His "kicking" ability exists so that he can use the gun without progressively dying as the game goes on. It still has the limiter that its very much a melee attack and I'm perfectly amenable to the idea that a miss with it doesn't transfer the rad damage.
u_u Nevermind.

well, the problem is radiation damage is comparable to a nanoparticle shotgun. even after you've got the radiation out of your body, you've still got millions of tiny holes left in your cells and your DNA that compound upon each other as millions of tiny bits and pieces of your vital organs fail at roughly the same time.

radiation is some nasty stuff.

actually he'd vomit all over the gun, have violent diarrhea, get a severe headache, suffer seizures, grow lethargic, develop tremors, have trouble with even the most basic of thoughts, and keel over and die, all well before developing cancer.

and I can work with your character working like that, but I hope you find live targets to transfer the radiation damage too before using the thing. and you need to keep in mind the delay before symptoms begin to show.
Well if I understand correctly, then I win. YAY.
If anyone's head is still hurting from how he can have the rad damage healed by kicking then basically: MAGIC.
Both Joe and the gun are MAGIC. From MAGIC Incorporated. The inventors of Pizza-Flavored Bullets and Bulletproof Guns.
(Said guns are so bulletproof they can't load bullets to fire :P note: Joes minigun is NOT bulletproof)
...I just hate it when an explanation to understood things is basically 'MAGIC'. DX

If I'm ever playing with your character, I'm staying faaaaaar away from you, your target, and your general presence.

Uh. Wait....

You want a magical person wielding a minigun that performs a complex magical operation in a world where science and magic react in unpredictable and volatile ways when in proximity?

Isn't that sort of like picking a pack of white phosphorous bubblegum as your starting item?

He wants a minigun that somehow can shoot radiation in general along with some relative connection to kicking/application of force + foot, then so be it. I...gave up trying to rationalize it before the game starts.

Anything else I'd say on the matter would be dishonorable.

Well, I can't comment on the fact that it's silly. Not when you consider that my character is a human werehuman whose special abilities consist of switching genders and living in unspeakable agony. Pot, kettle, black.

It is daybreak, and you and your... companions... are finishing eating breakfast and packing up to begin your journey. You're currently at an old messenger station about two hours walk from the outside of the super-city of Erlith. It's actually quite a spacious place - clearly designed to handle large amounts of traffic, and designed with function over form. the tables in the common room are well worn but of a very sturdy build, and you can see the aimless knife-scrawls of many bored travelers before you. the rooms in the back are rather cramped but the beds were surprisingly good. The place as a whole seems both completely devoid of magic and of high-tech equipment, similar to many isolated inns. the station manager is a middle-aged man, and a fairly good cook. He gave you all rooms for one night and a good meal this morning free of charge once you told him why you were gathered here. In amongst his aimless ramblings last eve you learned quite a bit. This place normally is quite busy, handling messages to and from Erlith and serving as a rest-house for the messengers that use the place and the occasional traveler who was locked out when the city gates closed at night. It's rather empty now though. The station manager is more than a little worried about recent events, but whenever you bring it up he starts rambling on and on about how he "Ain't gonna be driven out fer no meesly lil undead critter no way no how. Nuh-uh, if they wanna try then I'll show em how a REAL man handles these things, I'll tell you what! I know my duty! The messenger system can't be shut down come fire, plague, or invading horde! I've my post and they're gonna have to tear the place down around me ifn they want to shut ME down!"

It's the first time you've met each other face-to-face, people weren't in the mood to meet and greet last eve, getting off the dusty road and tired from their various travels. and you have yet to properly organize this expidition. Still, things should be all right, right?

Man, I feel your pain...and should probably stop putting off finishing character sheets for games I want to be in.

Enjoy my breakfast more than usual to prepare for the terrors the day assuredly holds. Review our supplies in this time as well.

Review our supplies in this time as well.
((That's actually up to you, since you haven't approached the city yet you can add/remove stuff from your inventory and I'll just assume things were like that all along. Once you're there you're going to be limited to what you actually have though. feel free to fill your inventory with whatever random stuff you think might be useful. Additionally, the station manager keeps a stock of basic supplies available for his couriers, and he'd be willing to sell you anything you need as long as it isn't fancy or weird.))
