I get the feeling you weren't as overpowered as I originally thought...
Maybe I shouldn't have set the average encounter to somewhere around CR 9?
...
No, you shouldn't have. Why would you do that?
I thought you were all crazy overpowered and had seven people. That brings your effective party level up to around nine.
1. Even if we had eight, that would only be double, putting us around 8.
2. Me? Overpowered? My druids get beaten up by typical monks.
3. One powerful enemy is not a good solution for a large party. I'd cite a WotC article on the subject, but I can't find it. Basically, the problem is that it swiftly becomes difficult for anyone to survive or hit it, let along kill it without being killed. A better solution is--perhaps unsurprisingly--to provide more enemies. Sending two of these smoke things instead of one advanced one would be better. (Or three, if you really wanted EL 9.)
I shall role up another character. That was a joke, I don't expect you to apply Paranoia rules here. There was something in the Paranoia XP SP1 about what if Popular Fantasy Roleplaying Game™ were like Paranoia.
Which reminds me, what happened to that Paranoia game Remuthra was going to run?
Still waiting on applications.
Ah. Who are the Commie mutant traitors who have failed to return their character applications?
...HOW IS THIS CR9?!
The normal one is CR 6. I scaled it up using a program, which said that 13d8 is CR 8. Thus, 15d8 is CR 9 or so.
...
How many HD normally (guessing 7?) and what type is it?
7, and Elemental.
[/quote]
Ah. Well, um...hate to say it, but elementals get +1 CR per 4 HD. So, unless, it increased in size (+1 CR), it would need a total of 19 HD to be CR 9. If it increased in size, then you need another 8, which takes it to...it increased size, didn't it?
