Share Your Favorite Music
« on: October 28, 2013, 05:13:09 pm »

I'm always looking for some good music to listen to, so I thought 'hey, why not ask all these random people online?'

So here I am.

Basically, give a link to one of your favorite pieces of music that likely hasn't been on the radio (since most people have probably heard those. this is a place to discover new music). this can include covers, remixes, and original songs by a little known Norwegian band. After that, state the name of the song and the author and a brief reason why you like the song. Any genre is welcome! Try to keep the number of songs you suggest in one post to a maximum of three.

I'll start things off.

Rose Inn
Artist: SpikeVallentine
I've always loved this song for the atmosphere it creates. Every time I listen to it I can always picture the inside of a wooden inn with a large, comforting wood burning hearth before me. It's so calm and serene and all the problems that I had before don't seem as large as they did before. If I ever made a video game, this would be the music I'd use for the inn.

The New Black Gold - Miracle of Sound

Great musician. This is a remix of his previous songs, which happens to be one of my favorites. I liked the song cos it felt very sci-fi without needing to go with a regular futuristic sounding synth and instead going with a unique sound. I especially like this new version cos it hits all the right notes of the song while also putting a new spin on it since there's a few new tricks in it that were gained after the original song.

If you're into instrumental stuff, then check out this guy. He plays DF, and has a song named 'boatmurdered' and one named 'bronzemurdered'. I only like about half his music, but it's a great half. Give most of his songs a listen. And be patient. His songs are stories. Most aren't done justice without good 'phones either.

Other than that, I can't really give you any good recommendations since my tastes are adknowledgely a bit eclectic and narrow. I have two playlists. One is mostly c418, Noise, and lilly allen. And the other is a mix of deadmau5, daft punk, and some other stuff I got off of youtube.

I have a bunch of songs, but I keep just deleting all but the best ones from the playlist so they get pretty short but I'm happy listening to it.

But I'm just going to leave this here anyway.

We have/had a music thread here for this stuff... ah well, this works.

Anyway, may I suggest Hybrid. A great producer group, they've recently moved towards more songlike pieces, which I quite enjoy. They also do a lot of soundtrack and movie stuff.

Newer material: Break My Soul
Older material: I'm Still Awake
