What does Demonic Adviser do?
It starts you off with a hero unit, personally, it's not that great for the expensive price.

Looks like Artifact wins the day!

Posting first turn shortly.

Might as well chalk it up to Pathos.
As this point we might as well invoke interpretive dance and call it a day.

Spoiler (click to show/hide)

Ok, so we have the capital of Rilcarn (can be renamed) and a farm, market, and Chamber of Arrows (builds archers.)
However, some dumb idiot stuck our farms in the plains, and our market in a swamp. Morons.
The Village is to the north, but currently inaccessible. (it will be in a few turns) Pumpkins to the south-west, Iron in the far north-east, and silver in the far south-east. Also there are Magic Fields really far out toward the east.

Oh, and those goblins to the north-west might be worth mentioning.

Spoiler (click to show/hide)

So our research options are as follows:
Shadow Bolt (10 turns) A nifty Death Magic Spell
Lightning Bolt (6 turns) A cheap Elemental damage spell
Make barren land (12 turns) Makes some land useless. This is actually beneficial to use on swamps.
Healing (5 turns) Self-explanatory
Melee Resistance (4 turns) Enchants some troops to be better able to resist melee attacks

Quest: We have some Dumb quest to build a farm
Spoiler (click to show/hide)

And we can make a building!

Spoiler (click to show/hide)

We start with some bowmen, and can train more, and some overpowered as all get out spearmen.

Oddly enough, the Elves are probably the one faction that doesn't need any starting spells.

Also great we start with a Pumpkin Patch! Though Undead have my favorite pumpkin upgrade.

I got this game just to be able to follow along better.
And I have discovered that capturing cities allows you access to their units.

So even if you start with monsters, you can have lots of elves.

Everyone else probably already knew that, but I'm rather excited to capture lots of cities with my armies of bowmen.

Either Tax Office or Farm

Of course, cities of different types (humans->undead) have a significant resource penalty.  But getting a few different types is the best way to buff-stack.

Verdigris, your halfwit niece, insists that we explore north to those shiny fire things and south to that silver, to begin immediate assessment of the viability of establishing a silver mine so she can have silver jewelry.

And you thought there weren't any downsides to having elven relatives.

I didn't think that anyone would go and buy the game because of this, that's cool! How are you liking it so far?
And yes, I would doubt if this were Bay12 if we didn't attempt to acquire every race.

Spoiler (click to show/hide)
That's adorable!

EDIT:

Ok, things I need for the turn.

Research choice: none selected
Building choice: Tax Office (1 vote) or Farm (1 vote)
Unit Orders: Spearmen (No order) and Bowmen (No order)

Spell: Melee Resistance
Building: Tax Office (dragons need more gold, besides they traditionally destroy farms instead of building them, HAH!)
Unit Orders: Following your Half-Dragon, Half-Elf Niece's advice, Spearman north to "shiny fire things", grabbing whatever we can along the way, while bowmen explore the silver mine.

Research has begun on Melee resistance! It will be complete in 4 turns.
Tax offices have begun! They will finish in 3 turns. We had 3 building spots, and 1 offered a food bonus, and the other two gave nothing, so I stuck it near the pumpkins.
Spearmen have a move of 5, so they make it past the village and into the hills. There are some massive lava plains, with a lost caravan in them, but they should be able to jump in and nab it next turn fast enough to not take damage. Also there is some gold far of to the east of their position. Also, they have found the northern edge of the map.
Spoiler (click to show/hide)
Archers have a move of 4, They make it to the silver. It is near some impassable mountains, and there is even more silver to the south-west of them.
Spoiler (click to show/hide)
There is a wolves' den to the far east of Rilcarn, and there are more monsters to the north-west then we could see earlier.

Spoiler (click to show/hide)

END TURN:

The goblin spearmen headed a bit to the east, not really all that interesting.

Spoiler (click to show/hide)

Info needed:
Unit orders:
Spearmen - Near lava fields/caravan, and the goblins
Archers - At the silver

The footmen should explore east to that gold! The archers should explore east to that... magic thing.

Oh man... I think I need to design my own inane Elven relative.

Overall, there is so much filth around. And only two troops. Those monsters! Those goblins! THEY STINK! We should most definitely build more troops, and clear the land.

We are using Elves, you would be surprised what they can take on.
