Hello? I saw your request for aid after today's events. I'm willing to offer my help. I'm a trained surgeon, who by course of life has also been out of the local medical scene for a while. I seem to be unaffected by whatever... ailment has taken the rest of the local community.
"Wait, how much training do you have? Are you fully trained or still in classes or what?" The voice on the other end of the phone seems both nervous and a little bit incredulous, as though they don't actually believe what you're saying or perhaps don't want to believe it.
"If my life was a movie, this is the part with the sappy music." Rico muttered to himself.
Take shower, then go ask the guy at the counter if there's someplace nearby to eat. Some cheap diner or Wendy's or whatever.
You turn the tap on the shower. It makes a loud clunking and banging noise-the pipes bouncing around in the wall you guess- and then water begins spraying out. Not out of the showerhead though, out of the hose leading up to the showerhead, specifically out of a thumb sized hole in said hose. So your shower turns out to be more akin to someone just spraying you in the face with a garden hose for several minutes. But whatever, right? Least there's hot water. God knows what the future will bring; but you're fairly certain indoor plumbing isn't gonna survive the end of days.
You dry off using the towel they give you in the room. It's got the consistency of something that's made of dryer lint. You're still plucking bits of it out of your hair as you head to the register and ask about some place you can go to get a meal.
"Well, there's a burger place 'bout mile that way" the guy at checkin tells you, "Or you could order out." He hands you a cheap looking menu to someplace called "Papa Italia" which seems to have a wide variety of stuff standard fast food stuff, from pizza and burgers to sandwiches and mexican food.
Actually, Chief, just wanted to see if I could be any help. City's going to shit, likely the world's ending. I wanna do something worthwhile.
"Yeah well, about the best thing you could do is go home and lock your door. The mayor says the governor is going to send in the national guard. Probably declare a state of emergency or martial law or something." The chief sighs and rests his head in his hands. "Listen. This thing with the doctors, it's bad. Worse then the news is say'n. We don't know how many dead and injured we got from the docs going nuts, let alone everyone dying cause they can't get treatment. And apperently we're not the only place. Capital is fine, but Vickburg, upstate, her hospital burnt down. And they say it's like that all over the place. Doctors can't be in some places or they go nuts. We dunno if it's gonna get worse."
He shakes his head.
"Just go home. See if you can help the people in your building or something. I can't have you on the force but you can at still help people."
Sam collapses into his desk chair, not exactly exhausted, but not brimming with energy either. He picks up his phone and hesitates, then sets it back down.
Instead he looks up the news again, looking for any new information that might have cropped up over the last few hours.

Probably don't wanna kill much time here; his call most likely won't last more then a minute or two. I'll just keep you both at the same time for now. And no, nothing new on the news. Just repeats of before.
