"Not much of a talker, are ya Buddy? That's fine, I can blather on enough for the both of us." Tess grins and starts to hand out the comm chips to everyone. "These are the code chips for this little outing. Don't lose it else you won't be able to listen to my lovely voice anymore, ya hear? Plus you'll be stuck in unfriendly territory without anyway of getting help, so I'd stick 'em in your headset ASAP." She takes her own advice and inserts the chip into her headset. "The pod's thataway, and it's supposed to have some supplies in it if ya need 'em. If ya can't find what ya need, talk to me about it. Don't hold your breath though, I've gotta go through mister big-head to get anything."

Tess smiles at Artemis. "You don't mind being in charge of the assault team, do ya?"

''Name's Mac.'' He gave a small, terse nod to Buddy, before dutifully receiving the chip and installing it casually. He had a frown on his face, holding his weapon, sometimes checking it over. He wasn't particularly attentive looking, but everyone who had worked with him know that he takes it in regardless.

He looked to Tess. ''Assault team? We're flippin' spies dressed as peacekeepers. Forgive me for asking, but what do we need an assault team for?'' Mac seemed irritated, since one of the mission cock ups not long ago lost him his friend, but he recovered near the end to show respect to her new position. Something he'd need to get used to.

Tess smiles, "Honey, in an ambush the last thing we wanna be wondering about is who's in charge of who. Someone oughta think about these things beforehand, and it obviously ain't you. We got two officers, two medics, two heavy weapons and two grunts so it all works out nicely. Artemis, you're gonna buddy up with Mac, Zoey and Will to form Team Alpha for 'Assault'. That'll leave me with Yudd, Matt and Buddy to make up Team Bravo for 'Blowing Shit Up'. Two fireteams with four people each. That's some prime fun-de-mentals right there. Kapeesh?"

<Holy cow, could she BE more condescending?> Mac thought to himself, merely giving a nod of acceptance to her visually.
Mac's remaining thoughts from there were indeterminable, wearing his usual frown. <Does she need to feel superior to feel good at all? She coulda just explained from the start that we're making two fireteams and why. And lumping me as a grunt with that... TRONO!>
It took a while for Mac to settle internally. The only relief being he was with Artemis and not Tess.

Yudd could not be more satisfied about getting put into Team Bravo.

"Hahahah! Go Team Blowing Shit Up, aw yeah!"

Zoey gave a little too wide grin to Buddy "I'm Zoey, a medic and that about it."

You were planning to have a 15 year old magical girl kill Witches by drinking them under the table!? It's original, at least.

((I was kinda hoping that Buddy would talk so that we could get some inter-party banter, but this works too.))

(( As I read through I noticed that the RM216 SPIW is also considered a SMG and is lighter, has more ammo and all around better?  Is the RM2000 just more accurate?  If it's not a huge drop in accuracy, I'd prefer the SPIV instead. ))

I think the SPIW is mostly just anti-armor and a close in, and that the RM2000's main bonus is that it uses the same ammo as everyone else. Loadouts can be changed, and you will have the chance.
Also, sorry about no update, I got sidetracked by the candyday. Hopefully today?

Yudd mutters about insurgents, something quite odd as there are none. But then it just might be his lack of sanity. And the severe lack of tea.
Some teams get set up, with Mac acting a bit... well... court marshal worthy. Tess seems to to notice over much, and looks over the files, handing out the comm keys. Zoey and Matt get there gear together and wait a while. Just before Tess goes totally nuts she gets a page on her set, seeming from the Major's office.
Simply put, they decided not to waste buddy in a spot where he would get killed quite so quickly, and instead have dumped in yet another random grunt, one Morkas Darduum, a dwarf who was considered for QM duty, but passed down because he always seemed outa luck. Shortly after Buddy gets a look on his face, removes his key and gives it back to Tess, before bowing to everyone and leaving just as the dwarf in question enters.

What now? Getting gear changes, checking stock or to the pods?
Also, you could always send off the grunts to get some food or something while the medics and non-coms get there gear.
