Yep. With all the pillaging, plundering and rum that involves. ...Well, not the last one exactly, booze costs money and we're on a budget :P

Anyway, I present to you folks the recruitment list for the "Evil" pirates! (AKA my race recommendations for the crew)

Crashing now. Wont be on much until I get home from school tomorrow. If nobody recommends any changes to my inventory/sheet, I'll finalize and contribute about 5k to the boat fund.

I think initially we might have to recruit from the dwarves, as we are starting in a dwarf island fortress. Humans are also viable, if less than ideal, because they are likely numerous and easy to hire.

Humans also don't have darkvision, so they won't be as effective in a night raid as well. I do have some gold so I can drag along a couple of assistants from the beginning, but it'll be expensive for me to do so...

I'd be willing to contribute 1000gp to the Boat Fund.

Also gm, this shouldn't be a issue for quite some time, but when I eventually get high enough level to get into Nar Demonbinder, it'd be great if it simply advances normal spellcasting rather than using it's own spellcasting progression, since the rest of the class and it's flavour is awesome, but it's spellcasting makes it a completely useless choice to take for any prospective demonbinder. If I can't have it, I'm going to be doing stuff like take levels in thaumaturgist and master specialist instead.

Anyway, race is probably going to be Illumnian, NE if gm okays alignment, because we're pirates, otherwise neutral or LN. I'll start throwing up a sheet.

What caster class are you using first, out of curiousity? >.>

I'd say that as pirates, we shouldn't discriminate. We take whoever wants to join, regardless of race or heritage! Evil is equal opportunity, you know.

And we don't want to become overly evil, or we risk getting hunted down by a party of low-level adventurers on an epic quest to save the world and used as a cool but ultimately-only-existing-to-level-up-the-heroes side encounter. I'd prefer if we stayed in the "ruthless and self-serving antiheroes" level of evil.

Eh, we should discriminate, mainly for the advantages having low-light vision and darkvision bring during a night attack. And I doubt we'd be successfully hunted by some low-level adventurers, we do have one person that has an absurd amount of AC and has spell resistance as well :P

Considering you are playing a wizard will full progression, I'm inclined to all that, and worse :I

But they'd have the advantage of plot on their side! Your AD and magic resistance would be no good if you end up hoisted by your own petard in a satisfyingly ironic way to create character development to the scruffy guy you were extra mean towards!

So, I just realized that the name "Torik the Red Handed" works way better if I run around strangling people than if I run around chopping people with axes. So now my weapon of choice is the gauntlet, and I traded out those silly spellcasting feats for Improved Unarmed Strike and Improved Grapple. Standard MO is to grab the enemy by the throat and keep squeezing.

Yes to all, sure thing.
Hmmm... Two questions:
If I take the +3 LA (blech) half-dragon template on a medium character, can it give wings (that large restriction is... rather silly)?
Would a level in Swashbuckler also grant a level of free LA?

Actually, you'd probably end up with redder hands if you chopped them with axes.
Because of the blood.

You can actually get the wings from a feat Harbinger. Even better, said feat segues into letting you fly with heavy armour eventually.

May also want to take Dwarmin as well Harbinger. Otherwise he'll be a good guy on a ship full of drow, hobgoblins and tieflings :P
And a darfellan!
