3rd of Granite, Year 126

I told them that we went the wrong way! Now look at us! We have a broken wheel, and we're in the middle of nowhere! I told them SOUTH! Why couldn't they just listen...
They all look to me now, as I was correct that we were off track. They think that if I was right about that, maybe I can do more right, possibly getting us to survive out here. We can't walk all the way to civilization. We are all traders, we know nothing about labor. However, we have an iron pick, and an axe, so we will make it work. I've read the histories of a few dwarven cities, maybe we can follow in their footsteps.

First of all, I had the nearby trees chopped down by one of the traders, who I have also decided to make the woodworker. I decided to grab the pick and start mining into the side of a hill, so that we don't have to stand out here. It was all made of peat, so it was easy to mine away.

Both of the peasants are now farmers, as the only dwarves doing anything were me and the woodworker, who's name I still do not know. The snow is starting to melt, and the cold is going with it. Perhaps it is a good sign.

19th of Granite, Year 126

Through my work these past few weeks, we now have a room for farms in the side of the hill, and a storage room. The two peasants have started some plump helmet farming in the farm room, so we now have food development. I have also started to dig down, so that we can start to build rooms for ourselves to sleep in. I do not want to have anyone above ground for much longer. I caught a glimpse of some cave spiders not too far away, and they look dangerous.


12th of Slate, Year 126

I have realized a terrible flaw in my digging. There is a pool of ice, right in front of the entrance. I have told everyone not to step on it, just in case it melts, and someone drowns. I have begun mining it out, so that we can build a floor over it. I have also begun carving out rooms into the limestone a bit underground. There will be eight rooms to start, but we will expand it when migrants come. Soon enough, I'll start making the noble's quarters, and my room will be the first one.

7th of Felsite, Year 126

In the past month I have taken great amounts of time to get us underground. I have told the dwarves that if they've nothing to do, they are to keep inside the storage area. I have ordered the peasants to wander around, picking berries until harvest season. Two workshops have been built, a carpenter's workshop and a mason's workshop. The carpenter is making seven beds, and Madbomber, the mason, is making seven doors. I don't honestly think I've ever seen dwarves craft things so fast, but I can't blame them. I have been patiently waiting for us to be sleeping in actual beds, rather than on the cold, hard ground.


8th of Felsite, Year 126

I have discovered, to my vast dismay, that we are also running out of drink. I never knew that we would deplete our supplies of ale and wine so quickly! I have had a distillery built, so that we can keep ourselves drunk and productive. Two bedrooms have been made so far, and I claimed the first. Ahh...how nice it feels to sleep in comfort again.

I wish to take the fem peasant. I would like to name her Gully Raithneach, a mouse-ish priestess who suffers from small bouts of depersonalization disorder, day dreams, and fanciful notions. Well, was going to be a priestess in where ever we were going. Now, she's a peasant first, spiritual councilor second. For now, at least.
