Well obviously we should ally with him, we've likely already attracted the ire of the Technocracy, and even if we haven't I don't think we'd be able to get a good deal out of them even if we wanted to betray these folks.

Which we don't, because bay12 is so very moralistic.

Point is, we accept his deal. Maybe not as-is though, but I can't think of anything to  add to it.

Also, why do they need the batteries? If the Technocracy can't power them up, I find it doubtful that the White Hounds could power them up either. Ask them what they plan to do with the rest of the batteries. You must understand of course Mr. Pentus, that we cannot help be nervous at the existence of such devices which currently have no targets but ourselves.

I'd say we don't accept anything yet. Honestly, the Technocracy didn't loose such a huge ground force, and we have an massive orbital thingy of deadly doom.

I'd say we open contact with the technocracy on a separate and secure channel. (Direct communication rather than broadcasting everywhere). Might be nice to get information from both sides.

+1, would be silly to take the word of a man we just met.

If negotiations break down with either the Technocracy or the White Hounds, we can always try to strongarm them with the whole "planetary annihilation" angle. Perhaps we can become the robo-dictator of a whole planet of meatbags!

That's the primary reason I wanted to take contact with the technocracy. Becoming AI dictator of an organization which already uses technology as a dictatorial means is much easier.

We should still act friendly to the white hounds-  keeping them on our side for now should be useful.

Okay, swap the internal defences research for reverse engineering those energy weapons, flying laser drones are way more important then boarding defences, we already have spiderbots and low calibre weapons we can use for that. Researching the weapons will not only increase our firepower, it will also enable us to develop defensive technologies to defend ourselves and -if we choose to- the white hounds.

I'd say we don't accept anything yet. Honestly, the Technocracy didn't loose such a huge ground force, and we have an massive orbital thingy of deadly doom.

-1, I am against this, if the white hounds find out we are talking to the technocracy our currently fragile relationship could go down the drain and we may end up fighting both sides thus denying us any pet meatsacks. Im not saying we cant do it later, im just saying we should perform surveillance first to substantiate pentus' claims without directly contacting the technocracy.
If however the technocracy stumbles across one of our surveillance drones and decides to refrain from shooting it i have no objections to our drone making verbal queries.

Clearly running multiple missions at the same time is a terrible idea.  The epic battle to see which team can cock it up worse has escalated again.

Actually, we just claim - truthfully at that - that we will need to investigate the matter on our own, before coming to a conclusion. The main-base of the techs would make for easy investigation, but smaller outposts would be of interest as well.

Quite so we need to make sure we aren't just being taken advantage, which we are imo.

Provided he speaks the truth, he wins if we beat the enemy, even if we want to rule as a dictator there is probably some directive or plan or weakness that will stop us somewhere along that path, and he wins if they use one of the batteries on us since then they are weakened and we are as well, as would his faction but he is already losing the tech war so his odds still improve, is using us as bait.
It improves his odds of winning immensely if we join him, even if we lose we only need to push them into a corner, and we gain nothing from joining him currently that we can't get by other means.

If dictatorship is what we want, a bio-weapon or some understanding of the potential enemies body would be a wise investment, so gather up some bodies see what makes im tick, or more accurately what makes the ticking stop, live samples would be better but we can't really just take those. Might not be allowed to do that anyway but we only seem to be told what we can't do once we try to do it.

The way I see it, there are four possible situations for the alignment of others relative to us:

* WH is good, T is evil - this is the situation which the WH have relayed to us. I'm not sure how factual the statement is, given that AIs don't trust humans for good reason. Since we only know what they told us, it could or could not be true

* WH is evil, T is good - this is the inverted situation from what we were told. It is possible that we are believing the evil side, which justifys why AIs don't trust humans.

* WH and T are both good - "good" is a relative term, but both sides might be doing things which we approve of. If this is the case, we should remain fully neutral to the engagements. For instance, we could be a weapon supplier for both sides, which still makes us neutral.

* WH and T are both evil, 3rd party is good - remembering the "plot" of Myst, both WH and T might be evil with respect to us and each other, similar to Sirus and Achenar. However, a third party like Atrus might be the actual good side of the situation.

I can't make any judgements for who is good or bad without knowing what T says. Probably a good way to do this is to inform both parties we are going to ask the other party information relating to alliance, cross-inform the parties of what was stated (tell WH what T said, vice versa), ask for a response, and figure from there.

As a heads up the Primaris's Orbital Railgun uses the Bombardment Orbital Railgun Shells as ammo, it cannot use the Heavy Railgun shells as they are made for a much, much smaller railgun. Next, adding more research facilities will not give more research slots, you can only have three research slots, however it does give you three slots to disassemble existing tech and discover stuff from it and it upgrades the die currently to see how far the tech progresses in an update (using update as a measure of time in the game not an actual update :P). And then finally, how exactly do you guys want to search for the Technocracy since you haven't detected anything from the planet besides the transmission broadcast directly at you and the energy readings from both that battle and the first skirmish that you tried to investigate and got shot at for?

Asking the hounds should work, no? At worst we refuse to ally with them, at best we do their work for them... or something  :P

Eye bots. Lots and lots of eye bots. We must spam them and figure out a way to equip them with single missiles so later we can spam missleeyebots.

Missiles have a higher damage oupu- OH! We could do BOTH! Lasereyebots would need to be bigger for the power rig, course we could mount some extra engines on them to make them go quicker and missileeyebots could just have a missile mounted on the outside with a targeting system. They could travel in mixed swarms.

Also btw @adwarf, if you have enough weak sensors, you can actually track and see individual dust particles on a planet across the system. If you had 2,000 eyes and the right type of brain, you could watch the Chinese Moon Rover move around by simply looking at it from the ground.

If you don't want us spamming weak sensors to see everything then just make it a lack of proper coding to coordinate the sensors and make a actual image out of a fuckton of different eyes. Then let us upgrade that with research. Sure better sensors are nice, however, you don't need one advanced sensor when 50 basic would do just fine. I can link scientific articles and whatnot for you if you would like in relation to this. I was really interested in telescopes and optics at one point which is why I know this random crap.
