Journal of Gar the Axedwarf.
Dear diary. We convinced those stoned goblins to put down their weapons and armour. By 'convinced' I mean not usual dwarfy way of 'convincing' by applying heavy weapons to their limbs, but literally convinced. We just asked them to put the weapons down, and they did. Also they threw down their armour and even clothes, giggling and singing about elven lifestyle in a harmony with nature.
Now we have halls filled with NAKED stoned hippie goblins. Please make me unsee it.

I don't even know where to begin with the Armok-forsaken hellhole. For one, the goblins are walking around the fortress in numbers that rival even cats, and they're so drunk and stoned that we walked up to them, ASKED them for their weapons, and they COMPLIED! I really hope we take those weapons we just "borrowed" and use it to fix our goblin infestation.
Also, the amount of filth gathered on every imaginable corner is amazing. I'm willing to bet the plump helmets are growing in red from all the blood splattered around the place, and it reeks of decay, though not quite enough to be considered miasma. I don't know how the dwarves that lived here previously stayed sane. Judging by some of the rooms, whoever designed this place didn't. At least we have a volcano to make up for everything else, though it still has a long way to go. Maybe if it rained booze.

'Are you sure he will pay?' Asked the trader.

'Of course he will. Are you calling me a liar?' I answered.

'No,no. We will go now.'

Once again I've been forced to use deceit to ensure survival. Difference is this time it's survival of others I was worried about. I have lied to the caravan saying that the previous overseer, HissingWallnuts called him Exodius and said he is under a house arrest in the capital, will pay for the supplies they left us. There wasn't much of it, I was not sure how rich Exodius actually is so I had no idea how much I could stretch the trust of the caravan. Hope Exodius will not take it too personally, I've hear stories of what he does to elves when they misbehave.

Last few seazon was a blur. I remember a lot of hauling and cleaning. I can recall a naked goblin doing some interpretive dances with his whip. I really wish I couldn't recall it. One of the Yaks we have presumed as being a captive of the goblins have pulverized one of them when it, goblin not yak, tried to leave the fort. Maybe we got their relationship backwards and the yaks are wardens while goblins are prisoners?

There was also one other incident. I still cannot look into HissingWallnuts' eyes. His baby has died. It had starved to death 'cause it's mother did not notice it was missing. Hissing blamed it on me. He shouted it would never happen if Exodius was here. He yelled that even though he lost this outpost noone was ever hungry with him around. Those words were painful, very painful. I cried for a few weeks after that, when I was alone off course. Or with Gar, I know I can trust him. I discussed my fears with him, and the fact I never wanted this job. I wish someone would take it away from me.

Exodius the First
-----------------

Well, that was interesting. Some traders have visited me, demanding payment for some supplies Murderwheel was unable to pay for. I decided to give what they want and left the room for a second to find something they would consider of equal value. I chose to give them a masterwork, jewel encrusted battle axe but when I entered the room again they just yelped and run off. Weird dwarves, those traders. I have also learned that HissingWallnuts is going back to our volcanic home. Flame has also recently passed all those silly tests and is scheduled to go there in Spring. I swear if Bsnott gets clearance before me I will be rather disappointed.

I would really appreciate feedback on how I'm writting Litheme, I do not think I am getting it just right. It's my first time writing female characters and I am not sure if I am doing a good job.

Also I will try to give two sides to each Chapter, one for Litheme and one for Exodius. Each chapter from Chapter XV, included, will be for one season only, to make sure I write regularly. I will update the dwarf list at my earliest convenience.

I have heard word amongst my fellows of a migrant wave coming soon, including a couple former members. Why the hell they'd ever want to come back here is beyond me. Frankly, I'd give my firstborn son to the Elves to get out of this hellhole and into the Mountainhomes.

ENTRY #1
Why was I called from my duties as a royal guard to this forsaken fortress? The corridors are littered with junk, and we found the goblins drunk. I must say, that little trick about the goblins handing their armor and weaponry over worked quite well. They are now pacified and I am keeping a close eye on them, along with my duties of watching Litheme. Recently, there was a fight between a goblin and a yak. I feel sorry for the goblin, after being tossed like that. There was also a death. HissingWallnuts' baby has died from starvation. I have managed to stop Hissing before he could do anything more drastic to Litheme. I cannot stop to feel partially responsible for this death, if only I would have payed more attention to recent events.

Dear diary. I said that Yaks are our real friends, and they prove it! Yak bull just gored a goblin lasher, kicking hin in the chest and right into the heart! I call this move - Yak Heart Attack!
Other news - Everyone thinks that Litheme is in charge for EVERYTHING here, even for their stupidness. HissingWallnuts blamed her for his own baby got lost and died because mother didn't give a fuck about that. Oh those peasants.

It is our second Spring in this place and corridors do not seem any less cluttered. Our masons tell me that magma-flooding device will be ready for testing come mid-Winter, as to avoid any civilian casualties.

An old face has arrived today, or so I have been told. I have no idea who was in the outpost pre-reclaim.

His name is Flame, Gar told me he used to be the cook and the brewer when dwarves have first arrived. Gar got this info from HissingWallnuts.

I have presumed Flame will want to return to kitchens but I was mistaken. He approached me while I was hauling even more junk to the stockpiles.

'I want to be a soldier.' He said without any sort of greeting.

'Hello to you too, why would you want to be a warrior?'

'I have my reasons.'

'Fine I will speak with Gar and Griffin and see what can be done.' I exclaimed returning to my work.

'I think axe is not for me.' Said Flame afterr a brief sparring session with Gar. 'Can I try with Hammer?'

'Of course.' Answered Griffin throwing him a silver warhammer. I left them alone to let them spar in peace.

I woke up when I heard chanting "FLAME! FLAME!" I was certain there was a fire spreading but it turned out to be incorrect. It was Flame. Chasing an elven trader. Flailing his warhammer and shouting obscenities. It was rather amusing.

'What is going on?' I asked Griffin.

'Apparently that elven idiot tried to sell him some jewelery claiming it will look good on Flame's wife. Result you can see before you. I have already apprehended the other trader when he tried to shoot an arrow in Flame's back.' We watched silently as Flame was running up and down hill after terrified elf. 'Do you want me to stop him?'

'No, let him have his fun. Goodnight.'

I have received most curious letter from Flame. He said everything seems to be fine back home, apart from naked goblins. That was not the confusing part though. In Post Scriptum he added:

"I wish you were here to see how well I have learned to negotiate with elves.

Rather strange fellow, isn't he? Why would he want to negotiate with those buggers?

We are down to four friendly goblins, I will try to keep them around as long as possible.

Journal of Gar the axedwarf

Dear diary. One of this outpost's founder have returned back from wilderness. Name is Flame, the brewer and cook. Strangely, he doesn't want to be a cook anymore, but wants to be a soldier instead. Well, he's the hammerdwarf now, but I guess he'd be more deadly with his brewery - just look at those goblins who are still out of their minds! I think if their kin sieges us, we just throw the barrels out the walls and wait for them to drink them dry. Nobody except dwarves can survive that!

Other news - soon we will flood everything with magma, which is always Fun! When they start, I'll be on the highest tower with a barrel of rum and a piece of meat roast watching that.
Oh, look, Flame is chasing some elf. He'd better have an axe instead of hammer, it's more amusing and fitting.

Spoiler: The Journal of Karnii, Entry 3 (click to show/hide)

I have heard stories of a great magma cannon being built, and I hope that it reaches it's completion soon, as only the holy blood of the Gods could cleanse this place of the goblin-encrusted filth. Also, the elves have decided to try and trade, since apparently being elves wasn't enough of a death sentence for them. Flame, one of the founders of this place, once a cook, now a warrior, was happy to fulfill their death wish. Oddly enough, this largely seemed to stem from a comment the trader made about a piece of jewelery looking good on his wife.

Spoiler: The Second Journal of Flame, Entry 1 (click to show/hide)

I have reached this grand place that I once called home, and now do so again. However, it has fallen into disrepair in my absence, and it saddens me to see it this way. Where once were exquisite engravings of our rich history are now drunken goblins wandering the halls. Where once we drank our ale and cheered to our grand leader, we now sit in silence surrounded by filth and blood. After my arrival, I had sought out my old journal, and while I did find it, it was in between the teeth of one of the aforementioned goblins, stark naked and weaponless.
I have also chosen to enlist, and have decided to use a silver hammer as my weapon. Recently, an elven trader had the audacity to make a comment on my wife, at which point I had decided to have the audacity to lodge my hammer into his skull. I'm sure Exodius would love to see my new techniques as far as "negotiating" with the elves goes.

We are still cleaning the fortress. Ghosts are not helpful either. Everytime we put one to rest another just apperas. We had run out of corpes and I asked one of the ghosts where his body is. He shrug his transparent shoulders and continued roaming corridors, moaning. Inconsiderate elf-loving macaque.

Human caravan did not arrive. On the brighter note we have completed two branches of our 4-way Magma-Spewing device. We seriously need a better name for it.

Masons tell me that layout of terrain will be a detriment to the work of the device. We should change landscape a bit. I have decided to psotpone that, we lack the workforce to do something like that.

Exodius the First
------------

I was given freedom of the castle. I am not allowed to train however. I wanted to send a letter to Flame but it seems that humans refuse to go to Murderwheel, claiming it is haunted. Silly humans, ghosts can do nothing to them, it's the insane goblins I would worry about in their place.

Contest for a Very Dwarvy Name is open. Please do give your ideas as to what to call our magma-device. Extra points for acronyms that make sense are dwarvy^^. Winners get an engraved quarters complete with office, dining room and sculpture garden, with furniture material of their choice.

Terms and conditions apply, for rarer materials one may wait for 10+dwarven years.

And puts a shitload of strain on my computer^^. plus I do not want to go Boatmurdered, I want to use it as a crowd control. Thus I had made two more channels next to the Ramps into the fort and I am working on making that the only way to get in^^. We do not want to set the world and migrants on fire accidentally, do we?
