Not everything would work, but it's possible to make an Ultima-style tileset.

This took me 10 minutes to patch up this quick tileset preview.
Grass tiles need work, they stand out too much and annoy, but it's easy to fix.

With some raw edits to address tiles and colors it should be pretty simple, so you can do it if you want :).

Vertical and horisontal walls as double lines? Human-looking not color-coded dwarves? Nope, you gotta try more than this :). Copying icons is easy, it takes more time to shift through raws and make sure trees, grass etc. look fine in color.

Yes Mohreb, just making grass darker makes it better. As I told I just quickly made that mock-up tileset and did not try to polish it or something, just to prove that it works.

Just make sprites for dwarves in the same style. You will need each profession sprite, it will take maybe an hour.

Okay. I went with graphics from Ultima 4 mixed with a few from Ultima 5 and it looks pretty good ingame I think.

But, smoothed/built walls are way hard to make. Perhaps some kind soul would be willing to help me out with the smoothed walls? =)

Been reading up on custom graphic sets and I'm trying to do do a real dwarf in the spirit of Ultima 5. What do you think of this one?  :)

Hm, experimenting with getting it to work. I placed the ultima5 tileset in the graphics folder and made a folder for it called ultima5. The image is also named ultima5.bmp and I set the ultima5.txt up like this. How come It's not working?

I'm not even sure bmp is supported. Regardless, there is really no reason not to make it a png.

Did you set GRAPHICS to YES in the init.txt? Do other graphics work? Try to isolate the error.
