Not half dwarf, full blooded dwarf adopted as a baby by humans. Though I guess it might have been some supplemental book rather than DMG.

Aren't clerics unable to use any bladed weapons in the first place?

Aren't clerics unable to use any bladed weapons in the first place?

Clerics have automatic proficiency with simple weapons. Just about everything that isn't mindless also has that, too.

Though the only bladed simple weapons that I know of are the sickle, dagger, and short spear.

That being said, clerics are automatically proficient with their god's chosen weapon, no matter what it is.

AFAIK in 3.5e there's no cleric restriction against bladed weapons, but it was in earlier editions.
There's some information on it here: http://rpg.stackexchange.com/questions/15358/why-cant-clerics-use-sharp-weapons

It seems like a piety thing.  Another site explained it amusingly:
Quote
Or course, clerics need to defend themselves and even kill in an offensive manner (in the service of their god, of course), and therefore require a weapon of some sort. But even in conceding to this practical necessity, the cleric will, as a symbolic act, take up weapons that are at least less effective means of shedding blood than is an edged or pointed weapon. To give a really silly analogy, imagine a cleric of Mario Andretti, the god of auto racing. This cleric believes that Mario Andretti has absolute authority over driving automobiles, yet the cleric also needs to get to get around town somehow. So in concession to this practical necessity, the cleric drives a 4-cylinder Toyota, lest he, in getting behind the wheel of a Ferrari, be tempted to think that he, a mere mortal, might be able to drive as fast as as the god he serves, and thereby be guilty of impiety.

I still am wondering why there was a thing with 'clerics' and blunt/bladed weapons.

I mean, blunt force trauma also causes bleeding. In specifics, its more of internal bleeding but you get the idea.

...And I can't get that analogy on cars! D:<

Well, back then, if you couldn't see the bleeding externally, how did you know it happened?

...Well that explains everything.
"You're not bleeding."
"I have dark patches on my skin and a broken bone!"
"Not. Bleeding."
"It's a closed fracture!"
"Point being? I see no blood."

..I thought clerics knew how to heal.

They let their god do all that; far as I can tell they're like little fingers of the god in question poking through into reality.
Like the Orz from Star Control 2.

IIRC clerics using blunt weapons is based on real warrior monks from the crusades, who did it so they don't shed blood (hey, if it's internal bleeding, it's not shedding).

There was a Pen and Paper RPG made by someone I know that I played as a kid, in their version, clerics could use bladed weapons, but only if they could prove that it was evil blood they were shedding (usually through a Detect Evil spell, or if it was blatantly obvious, like a demon). Also they could use it on creatures that don't have blood, like skeletons.

What do you mean by Klick?
You mean "clique", as in a group or cult?
You can shed blood all day, as long as you can prove it was evil.

Have you read the comic?
I read a bit, then had to sleep.
And then my computer decided not remember the page I was on, despite me putting the web address into my favorites bar.
So I haven't read the recent stuff.
