If Kore ends up getting sidetracked and the party is slain by a wandering encounter of giant slugs, I guess I'll ned to rethink my position.

Good point.  I agree with the guy above, that would be great.

No he's got a shitload of Mary Sues and his favorite is clearly Kore. I'm actually really surprised he's killed anyone off at all, such as the ranger guy. Kore will find some suitably dumb way in and screw everyone over but they'll win in the end and we'll be expected to have all the relieved and happy feels about that.

wait, which characters are mary sues?

I can see your reasoning for Kore, but not so much for anyone else.

Minmax? That seems a little off to me.

Minmax isn't a mary sue, he's flawed as hell. When he does bad shit - he isn't forgiven, he gets called out on it.

Most of the characters survive impossible situations, but I don't think that makes them Mary Sues.  They suffer a lot and rarely accomplish their goals.  It's a surprisingly dark comic, but their reactions to the adversity are sometimes very believable/moving.

The villains might be a bit mary-suish... But Big Bad Evil guys are *supposed* to be cheaty bastards that can only be defeated in the final, most desperate hour.  Not necessarily in every story, but it's a legitimate narrative technique that builds tension and makes the payoff sweeter IMHO.

Eh, saving vs Hold Person doesn't surprise me, but the amount of munchkin/villain sue in Kore is unbelievable. I mean how the fuck did he lifted itself from that trip ?

So many things wrong here.

First, leveling doesn't grant additional spells until praying for an hour. If Forgath leveled up while fighting Kore, he should have needed a rest break to gain his new spells.

Second, the whole trip recovery wasn't true to the game either. If you're tripped you can either stand as a move action that provokes an attack of opportunity, or crawl 5 feet which provokes an attack of opportunity.

Bah, silly realistic combat getting in the way of my 3.5e rules.

Forgath seems to have lost the wrong eye to be Kore, pending results of Cure Moderate Wounds.

Epic Battle. Altough I do hope we will get some more "Goblinstuff" afterwards.

@the whole Mary Sue and Railroading Stuff

I dunno, I've never looked at the whole Story as a P&P Campaign. I know its supposed to be one, but the only times it really shows is when they joke around it. ("Fine. Cakewalk this.") We have absolutely no context on the Players, if the Goblins have Players or Herbert just plays them for addiotional effect and a morale-Dilemma.  I just look at it as a story told in a PnP world and  pay no furhter attention to the implication afterwards (Except for the jokes ofc, the introduction of Herbert had me giggling quite a lot).

And concerning Mary Sues, as long as he doesnt recycle Kore every 50 Chapters to make him show up, kill one Character and then miracolously survive the counter attack (Imho, the Rope should've been deadly.), im fine with the whole thing. Kore's premise is pretty interesting and im excited to find out more about him. So I can forgive _some_ "Look at how badass this dude is". There's a limit tough.

Herbert granted him a spell as a gift.

He has a special feat. Improved Trip Recovery.
