Thanks Dwarmin. I'll take a nice cloak then.

If we have a big boat it might be necessary to hire crew, and if we do I'll need to get more ale.

Can anyone do carpentry? That would be useful with boats. I thought about taking use ropes and profession: carpentry as the chances of them one day being helpful are quite high, but probably only if you were an expert at them, rather than having 2 spare skill points put there.

In fact I'm suddenly tempted to completely start again and make a sailory type so we don't all die in a terrible storm after getting swept out to sea and having to resort to cannibalism.

Looking through Stormwrack, the relevant skills that stand out are:
Profession (sailor) covers the maneuvering and handling of a ship, 1 to 2 ranks being about deckhand level, 3-7 being petty officers, officers and technical experts, and 8+ expert shiphandlers (ordering sail-setting, piloting past river bars, doing tactical manuevers, etc).
Knowledge (Geography), for navigating and telling where the hell you are.
Knowledge (Architecture and Engineering) to be a shipwright, basically overseeing expert craftsmen as they build a large (well, Gargantuan or Colossal, but hey) ship.
Craft (boatbuilding), for a single craftsman knocking together a bunch of planks and getting a boat of up to Huge size out of it (though stuff at the larger end will take quite a while). Other craft skills are generally just used by experts working on a specific part of a larger ship.

As for a couple of points in Use Rope, throw in a couple of Climb points and a couple of Prof(Sailor) points and you have the description of a deckhand, who's probably really cheap to hire.

Of course, I'm not sure how much of this is online, so there's that.

Ok, think I’m done with the actual stat bits of the sheet (will add description bits when I can).

I am good at playing the whistle, knowing stuff, and pretending to know about magic.

I am passable at swashbucklery, not falling over, and some talking.

I am less good at everything else.

I wouldn’t describe myself as the party face but it would be nice to be considered useful - I’m not sure what kind of niche I fill. Steffan the Whistling Stabber, perhaps.

I have set aside 500 gold euros for a boat, and have 390 left over.

Steffan’s aim is to make contact with the savage tribes of the Yianmarese Jungle, and to whistle at them. Hopefully this will lead to their singing me some lovely songs that I can write down and then write about back home. If they would prefer to eat me I shall cast expeditious retreat and run away.

(I decided he wasn’t a sailor so it wouldn’t make sense to take sailor skills)

I did take a catchall Crafting: Woodcarving for max ranks. It should be enough to make extra arrows and things, or even do spot repairs on our canoes if needed.

"mage armour x2"
Er, that won't actually stack with your existing armour.

Ok, I think I'm done! I'm gunning for a support/casting cleric that's also decent enough in melee to help hold the line. He'll buff up the group or himself, and then wade in with the barbarians in his heavy armour and heavy shield. He's good at casting under pressure, knowing about magic and he also knows about all sorts of religions. He can also heal people if need be, but that hopefully won't need to happen, and he can also spontaneously cast spells from the travel tree (which means good amounts of teleporting shenanigans later on and casting fly on multiple people!).

He's also thought ahead and brought some useful stuff, like a tent, a backpack that acts like a bag of holding, tindertwigs to light fires incase of rain or emergency and he can also do useful utility stuff like purify food and water, create water and light, understand any language, talk with animals, make someone tell the truth, make holy water and that's just right NOW with the spells I have access to in the core books. In the future (i.e when I can get my next feat), I'll take divine metamagic and then I can start casting persisting buffs that last all day! Joy!

Here he is: http://www.myth-weavers.com/sheetview.php?sheetid=688058

Wow. Definitely a support kind of character... Let's see if I can pull it off. Now I just have to think of what spells I want to prepare, and what my marching order is going to be...

Sweet. Guess I have another 100 euros to spend :)

Is it possible to buy a hammock and mosquito net? And a bunch of cages?

Well, i can create water and oldbarian has a bunch of empty bottles, so if nothing else we could always set up a discount holy water business.

Is there any benefit to having things in pouches instead of backpacks?

EDIT: Second query: health bonus from +3 consistution. How much?

Could someone help me with suggestions for the below please? Particularly I don’t know which of my bardic abilities or low level spells are useful.

Have all the spots been gobbled up yet? I did post first expressing interest.

I think I should have time to make a sheet today, I'm thinking Paladin because the GM said he wont be paying much attention to alignment, and I've always wanted to play one without having to worry too much about being on my best behavior.

Important information regarding "First come first serve"

I figure someone with your crazy schedule would benefit from this.

Now that I'm done giving you a hard time: You should try making a character anyway. I think we're going for a few extras anyway.
