How much would it cost to have a boat blessed by a death god? It seems the best way to travel the River of Death would be a Boat of Death.

I still have 500 gold euros, so who wants to co-buy a boat or house or whatever?

I can donate a good 450 gold to the plan. The rest was taken up by enormously expensive weapons.

I can give around 300 gold, and can also heal if necessary.

Plus my 2000 gold to either boat or house donation... We have about 1000 for a house and 2250 for boat[ s] so... Assuming I split my contribution equally betwixt the two. Any other takers?

Quote from: Keelboat
This 50- to 75-foot-long ship is 15 to 20 feet wide and has a few oars to supplement its single mast with a square sail. It has a crew of eight to fifteen and can carry 40 to 50 tons of cargo or 100 soldiers. It can make sea voyages, as well as sail down rivers (thanks to its flat bottom). It moves about 1 mile per hour. [Costs: 3,000]

That'd carry all of us right? Unless I'm dumb about boats [I am] we could use that somewhat well and would have 250 [of my money] to put towards getting people who can actually sail the damn thing.

Alternatively

Quote from: Rowboat
This 8- to 12-foot-long boat holds two or three Medium passengers. It moves about 1½ miles per hour. [50 gp per boat, 2 gp per oar]

Having 12 people... We would need 4 [200 gp] of them and 8 [16 gp] oars. It's not quite so stable but it's a LOT cheaper leaving our 3250 budged with around 3026 above water, so to speak.

I'm cool with either plan honestly.

We might want to buy a larger boat to serve as a sort of mobile base, and a couple of small skiffs for auxiliary transport.

So... Go with both plans?

3,000 [Keelboat] + 250 [Crew] + 200 [Rowboats] + 16 [Oars] = 3466 GP of which we have... 3250 available. Though I doubt 18 sailors would cost 250 GP. Maybe 200 or so SP. Granted I'm not sure. Grek? Anyone?

Depends on the skill of the soldiers. We probably want the bigger boat, though, and having some smaller rowboats would increase our mobility. We have to split up, after all.

So Dwarmin brought up buying a base and also someone (sorry can't remember or be bothered to look back) mentioned buying a boat?

Any takers?

I've got like 500 left over.  I could spare more if I didn't have so many scroll of mount stockpiled in case I need to organize a party escape.

Do we HAVE to split up or is that just a suggestion? Besides we'd STILL need more money if we want to get these things.

Again, we have some contributing members already

Lawa [500], Maniac [500?] Remuthra [450], Giglamesh [300], and myself [2000] puts us at 3750 - 3466 =  284 left over for a house or fort of some sort. I would prefer to have everyone contribute at least SOMETHING to the boats and house [if we're still planning on a fort eventually]. Just saying, if you have some extra cash you should really donate at least a little bit. Maybe not the FULL amount of your cash so that you have some left-over for other things you didn't know about needing but still a little bit would help.

Part of my suggestion was to use the keelboat as a base. That way we won't need a house.

Alright BUT the river is dangerous. If we lose the boat we lose ALL of our stuff. If we have a house back at the port we have a somewhat secure location for our loots.

Could we keep some kind of high security vault back at the base?

Eventually. Right now our wealth is somewhat negligable but as we expand our stores we could have a bitchin' fortress of doom or what have you.
