Bad news: I'm not updating this until tomorrow.

Alex Shater watched the battle with growing discontent. Something about this whole affair… It gnawed at him. He never considered himself a moralist but… Something about this battle drove him to inaction. All for the better as he seemed forgotten by the teeming masses of enemies.

Luke, however, was having a much harder time of things. While his armor had protected him well in the past it proved nothing but a hindrance when faced with two enemies skilled with their spears.

True to their name Berry Smiles the Wraith was grinning from ear to ear “Come on then big fella! Isn’t your fancy armor gonna stop us?” Another fierce jab came only centimeters away from puncturing his throat. If he wasn’t wearing such heavy armor he would have easily parried the attack. As it was it took all of his strength to keep standing.

“Aye lad! Heavy armor isn’t as much a help naw is it?” Lachlan DeGroot taunted as his attack hit home. Right through Luke’s throat. The shower of blood was beautiful.

“Ha! Take that you oppressive bastard!” Lachlan taunted before he felt a painful jolt in his side. Turning quickly he saw Eltonius who had swung his Short Sword into the hip of Lachlan’s armor. Lachlan scowled. Eltonius was built for speed. His own clunky armor would have to stand in for speed if he was to survive this.

“Fane!” Klaus called out.

“Yes?” Fane replied. She was glad to see another so capable of commanding the troops. Though he lacked her skill in rousing he obviously had a head for good tactics.

“Wanna help me out?”

“Hm? OH!” Fane had been too focused on her own fight with a few nameless men to notice that Klaus was under attack by two men who were obviously much more trained than her adversaries. With a savage swing she beheaded one and place her hatchet’s head into another’s throat. A swift kick knocked the third man on his back giving her enough time to run towards the brawl. But, alas, it was too late.

“Axe will axe-tinguish you!” Axe the Not-Yet-Undead Pre-Zombie cried out as he swung his axe in a deadly vertical arc.

“Not today!” Stepping aside the blow Klaus brought his own weapon into the barbarian’s chest.

“Axe… Become… Eternal!” Axe laughed as he fell to the ground. Dead. For now.

“Axe!” Henry of the Holes cried out as he kneed Cromwell Jackson in the groin with an almost casual indifference. Cromwell’s attempts at separating Henry from Klaus now gone for the moment Henry rushed the slaughterer of Axe.

“Alright.” Klaus smirked as he grabbed Axe’s weapon and threw it straight into Henry’s head.

With a solid thunk Henry fell to the ground dead.

“That was an amazing job soldier! After this is over I’ll see about getting you a promotion!” Fane laughed aloud seeing two oppressors of her people felled with nary a problem.

“I do what I do for the homeland. Just make sure as many of our boys make it out alive as possible.”

“I plan on it.”

From up above, on a high tower over-looking the battle-field, two nobles watched with worry.

“Our men are dying quickly…”

“Yes. It would appear they were not quite so well trained as we thought.” The second replied.

“We… We should flee! They’re routing our forces!”

“Not yet. I see that Axe has been killed.”

“Yes, your so called “Perfect Soldier” has fallen as easily as anyone before him!”

“Just wait and watch. He did not come cheap but he will be worth it.”

“Worth it! HE’S DEAD!”

“True.” Though he said it the smile never left his face “Well I suppose it’s time to dip into the reserves.”

I almost, ALMOST, let Urist McDwarf’s character defect and form side C. It was so very very tempting. But considering the circumstances... I probably should have done it anyways.

"Please stop making axe puns. As your friend, I beg of you!" The second noble started crying out.
