James' head will go on my pike!

As a cool factoid thingy; Before the parry boost, Axes(particularly the large one-handed one, I think it was called Battleaxe) were better than swords in almost every way. Now, it's more balanced; swords are more defensive while axes are more offensive. As is proper.

So do short swords have a +2 to parrying? I think they should. Rogue with a short sword; counter-attack ALL the enemies!

“Heh, is this the best you can do?” Henry of the Holes taunted Jenny Longhorn and James continued to try to find a way past his formidable defenses.

“No,” Jenny laughed “Cromwell! NOW!”

Cromwell Jackson took this instant to relieve Henry of his breathing facilities however the caveman whirled around with an almost practiced grace.

“Sneak attacks work better when you don’t announce them.” With this small quip the tower-shield wielding caveman moved to put his three enemies in front of him to avoid getting surrounded.

“I’ll sho-“ James started before he collapsed. The pain and blood loss was too much for the brave warrior. As his two allies fended off Henry’s brief attempt to finish off the injured man James simply stared at the sky.

“It’s a good day to die I guess… At least I’m not under their oppression anymore…”

“But your family is.” Came a angered voice from his side.

“What?” Turning to face the voice he saw none other than Commander Fane Ravien.

“You would let a simple pin-prick rob you of your ability to defend your family? Do you know what they will do to that pretty daughter of yours?”

“Kill her I would assume.” James was never one for Fane’s attempts at morale.

“Only if she’s lucky. You can defend her good sir if only you’d stop being so craven and chose instead to stand and fight!”

“I don- My daughter! My wife!” The cloud of pain in James’ head cleared as he remembered just why he was fighting. Standing swiftly he looked towards Fane “We have to protect them! I have to get home!”

“And running would help? They’d track you. If we get into that city and kill the nobles we’ll have nothing more to worry about! Stand and fight for your family!” Any further attempts by Fane to convince James to fight were cut short by Knight Matis and Alex Shater slamming into her. In the end Knight Matis was straddling Fane’s stomach, preventing her from getting up while Alex stood to the side.

“Die you pirate bitch!” Knight Matis shouted as he drove Mourning Star into her armor.

“Hah! You call that an attack? Didn’t even feel it!” Fane taunted. It would appear that the ignorant bastards didn’t understand that Centurion Armor planned for just such an occasion. The thick plates easily stopped the knife.

“But can you feel this!?” Alex shouted as he brought his morning star down upon the Commanders arm.

“Not even a bit! Now get the hell off of me!” with a savage fist to the straddlers face Fane was once again able to stand. Taking only a moment to grab her Hatchet she charged back into battle.

“Get their commander!” James heard Roleip and Luke shout as they rushed to their comrade’s aid.

“No!” James himself shouted as he stood between the two men and his commander.

“Ha, an injured man would stop us?”

“I have the gods on my side you bastards. If you want her, you’ll have to go through me!”

“Easily arranged! I’ve done it before!” Roleip shouted as he charged forward with his mighty spear poised to strike.

With a large amount of difficulty James smacked both Roleip and his spear aside with the flat of his Claymore and sent them nearly into the river.

“Come try me! None will harm my family!”

“None will stand before me!” Luke shouted as he placed his favorite hatchet upon his belt.

“Unarmed? You over-confident fool.”

“Just sentimental actually.” Luke said with a large grin as he grabbed a second hatchet from his belt, nearly identical to the first, and threw it full force at the injured man.

“AUGH!” The hatchet found its mark easily as it slammed full force into James already injured arm.

“HAHAHAHA!” Luke laughed as he pulled his favorite hatchet out again and charged the screaming man “Lutilda will taste blood again!”

“Not today you bastard!” With a mighty kick James managed to knock Luke off balance just long enough to put some extra distance between the two “Your parlor trick worked once! Not again!”

And outside the main calamity of the battle Ms. Pretty Obvious took her time. Surveying the field. Waiting for the perfect opportunity to strike.
