Cross a river (assuming your swimming is high enough.)

It's a lot more work to keep your companions alive than it is to get them killed. Just let nature take its course.

Take them to a bronze colossus. If they survive and defeat it then taking their armour is not necessary - they deserve it more than you do.

I second swimming across a river. This usually kills most of my companions, even when I'm trying to keep them alive.

i haven't the faintest idea on where one is also i don't fancy my chances against one

EDIT we both died what a happy ending.

as for details there were three crocs nearby she took it upon herself to charge into them ::) as you might guess it did not end well,i was in sneak so i started throwing rocks at them, only since they were one z level down the rocks just hit the ground so i got a bit closer, bam too close i was spotted i started running only one croc was chasing it was slightly faster then me so it was catching up so once it got close i started hitting it,in my flurry of blows i killed it,then for some reason i decided i would lure the other crocs so i came up to the river lured another croc (alone again) and i hit it in the stomach and leg and it wanted to run away so i let it,the last one however did not go so well, bit me arm off and hand and i bled out

Ahh, the rare Aqua-mortal.

Normally I don't lose companions due to crossing rivers by employing the flawless method of running the fuck away from them and fast-travelling, saving them.

Another way to get them through rivers is exploiting the fact that the companion will teleport into your tile if you move to its tile. So zig-zag into your companion's tile and out of it, and as long as you enter to its tile from the front, the companion will move to the right direction.
