Whenever I enter a room I immediately check all the corners and everywhere that there could be people hiding to make sure that no one gets the jump on me. I then proceed to sit in a direction so that I am facing all of the entrances to the room. A couple of people have noticed that I do this, and they think I'm a little strange.

It's futile. We know where to find you.

Problem?
There's a problem? Paranoia? Vigilance? D:
Nah. I don't see any problem.

Vampies ambush you when you least expect it.
Though it would probably be rude if they did so in the bathroom.

I've been on long drives and decided to duck my head down and to the side in case there's a sniper trying to shoot me.
I haven't actually ducked down, but I have scanned rooftops before for that.

Whenever I enter a room I immediately check all the corners and everywhere that there could be people hiding to make sure that no one gets the jump on me. I then proceed to sit in a direction so that I am facing all of the entrances to the room. A couple of people have noticed that I do this, and they think I'm a little strange.
I used to do this, but I don't now.
I still refuse to sit down in a restaurant unless my back is to a wall, so people can't sneak up on me.

Problem?

Paranoia and vigilance, yeah.
And it's not just bathrooms, it's pretty much any place with mirrors, that it gets bad.
And I'm always expecting them, because justice never sleeps.

I used to have kinda the same thing until I was 15 or so. Basically every time I was alone in a room with a mirror I had to check if it's actually me who's looking back at me :x

Is this a [the floor is lava/don't step on the cracks] sort of thing? I'm a bit confused by how you described it, otherwise.

My weird thing is that I imagine everyone walking past me has invisible barriers extending outwards from their feet, like a tripwire. If someone walks past me, I must watch their feet and 'step over' the invisible wire as they pass me. I've grown quite adept at doing it subtly but I'm sure people would see it if they watched me closely enough. :P

I once shot a bear in the eye with a bow on the first shot, cut it up, found another one, and shot it in the eye too. The collective pile of meat weighed more than my house.

No, it's not like a superstition or anything along those lines.
When I see a mirror, I feel like something is around where the mirror is showing me. I'm afraid that the mirror is wrong, and that there is something (probably malevolent) where I can't see with my eyes, but can see with the mirror.
I get this feeling of impending doom, or conflict.

Now I'm wondering what your context of 'vampire' is. Mythology?
Because modern perception of Vampires...don't see vampires in the mirror. :P

...If it makes you feel better. Everytime I see a tiled floor, I see a chessboard.
And I'm a piece in the play. Hello movement steps! :v

Yeah, that's the thing.

It's the idea that you can't see something bad in the mirror, that it lures into this false sense of security, and...

Now I'm super paranoid right now.

EDIT
...If it makes you feel better. Everytime I see a tiled floor, I see a chessboard.
And I'm a piece in the play. Hello movement steps! :v
I'm so happy to know I'm not the only one that does that.

...I'm always a knight when I do that...

Aww c'mon. :P
I've grown up with the childhood fear of ghosts and the many many many many many stories and varieties of them told by my grandparents, parents, older siblings and ghost story books (seriously, we've a whole production series dedicated to ghost stories xD True Philippine Ghost Stories, and some have quite the writing skill).
And I'll tell you--it isn't a problem unless it begins to cripple you and change your attitude and perception of things.

...
Come to think of it, I somehow did use my fear as a positive method of learning (or in the least, used the idea to transfer into fantasy writing. Mirrors reflect. Eyes see by light. Ghosts are therefore some kind of supernatural light? So let's transfer the idea to yours! Vampires a-)

...Goodness no I'm not doing Twilight anymore.

Well, I'm not afraid of ghosts, and I don't believe in them.
...But then again, I also don't believe in vampires....

Stupid irrational fears.

I could share you personal stories regarding my own experiences with...the paranormal :P
And I'm completely serious here. There are some events that, in my life, and under controlled settings, have happened. Sure: tiny trivial events, but they still happened ._.
If it helps anyways. Coping methods are added in. :v

How would you know if it was always someone else in the first place, just biding their time?
