I failed.

Mostly.

As a note, I used the Engineer (not that it did me much good) and also I don't know if the gallery will work right since Imgur's being a jerk.

When one asparagusses, it's important to not a have too big of a payload.
You need to make sure the smallest section of the asparagus can actually lift the payload.
Basically, only have the lander as payload, and the rest of the craft in one huge asparagus stage.

And so, the Duna rescue mission falls to me in the end.

Hmm. This might take some doing. And planning. Won't have the time to do it today. But when I do, whether I succeed or fail, it will be utterly glorious.

Basically, you use liquid fuel boosters that also feed fuel into your main stage, so you fire off all your engines at launch and when the boosters run out of fuel and drop off, your main stage tanks are still full.

And I succeed!

That was... a mission. Yeah. That was definitely a mission. Jebediah Kerman tossed Sherdred out of the pilot seat, and personally flew off to rescue Ed from Duna. On the way, there was much waiting, much pushing, and much nearly-dying-because-goddamn-parachutes. Twice, in fact. I hope some amount of quickloading is acceptable.

Detailed mission AAR coming soon complete and posted on Imgur.
