I just got word that I have a project coming in. I will be gone for 3 days. Can someone please tend the crops and take care of the animals while I am away. Thank you. I will keep an eye on this board, if you have a question let me know.

Wingman and I have cleared/flatten a relative big area (it is >9x11 tiles I think) on the hill and started to make spots and "streets" relative to FireCrazy fences.
We need to distribute a little more dirt on one site to fullfill the 5x5 spot but then there is some flat space left where perhaps someone else could append too with a "little" more work.

We layouted a little bit with logs because atm we have no nails to make fences...so tomorrow we need to make some.

And 3 fences are wrong and we need them to decay :/

Now I need to sleep 8)

I'm thinking of building across from Firesentinel, hopefully that won't be an issue. I kinda picture a road going down the middle there, but I'm not sure if it would be 1 or 2 tiles wide

EDIT: Actually, somebody has already marked the corners with packed dirt, is someone building there? I'm talking about to the east of Firesentinel's place

Firesentinel was marking off all of the 5x5 lots to keep things less chaotic up there, that way roads could be implemented without issue. if the ground has not been flattened, and trees choped at the least, consider it an open lot. He just marked the corners of the lot.

Ok I have worked up a tenative plan. Couple things to note:

This is not a final plan. This is to give you an idea or direction for us to head in rather than random chaos. The buildings certainly arent final.

1. Villager Area. The grey spot is a blank plot that we will stick community oven/loom/forge/large anvil etc on.
2. Workshops. That row of buildings is Blacksmith, Tailor, Carpenters, Kitchen etc.
3. Maple Forrest. For making wine, a lot of maple syrup is needed. It can only be harvested for a few days every couple of months, so lots are needed.
4. Catle 15x15 Tall Stone Wall exterior, with sentury towers on the corners, and a keep and other buildings inside.
5. Cedar Forrest. Cedar is the best wood for building boats and carts and any exterior wood items out of. So we need some to be able to cut and replant.
6. Lavender bushes, this is mostly for looks, but lavender does have some uses. We will also have camila and oleander around the perimiter next to the highways on the south and east sides.
7. Grapes, to make wine, need lots of grapes, just like maples they can ony be harvested for a few days every couple of months, so tons and tons are needed.
8. More graptes.
9. Inn. This will be a travelers inn, with rooms that has beds in them that people can rent. As big as xanadu is, traders will be wanting to catch sleep bonus while they are traveling and need to break.
10. Winery
11. Shiprwights shop.
12. Church.
13. Large Warehouse.
14. Farm Warehouse.

The line of tables to the right of 11 is where we will have market stalls that people can put merchants into. As you can see even with this theres room left, this is just a tenative plan, something to work towards. This is months of building, and opportunities to make profits.

I forgot about that neat little program. If we hadn't started working on our places already I would've gone OCD and marked out all the areas perfectly. Of course, this isn't a flat area, the hill makes it more complicated so it's good that there's some leeway here.

IIRC, decaying will take up to years, according to the wiki. However, from the same wiki page, "Many immobile items like walls, fences, forges, ovens, looms, beds, coffins, huge tubs, large barrels, large chests, bulk storage bins and food storage bins can be destroyed by players. You need 21 body strength and a heavy tool like large maul for it."

Firesentinel was marking off all of the 5x5 lots to keep things less chaotic up there, that way roads could be implemented without issue. if the ground has not been flattened, and trees choped at the least, consider it an open lot. He just marked the corners of the lot.

Couldn't explain it better myself.

Because this doesn't look very appropriate for a town..

And the game is made of grids. .. well, actually, you might raise a good point.

P.S. Oh yeah, after a bit of marking, here's what i have concluded.

Brown = road
Blue = Border
Green = What it should be
Red = What I propose

Yeah that is fine it does not have to be perfect, I just threw that together really fast to give an idea. Also so see how many would fit, looks like we can support 14-15 people comfortably.

Here are some things we need to stockpile if possible.

We need to have a few of each veggie/herb to plant, once we have that few I will be able to multiply them exponentially with farms within a week.

We need furs, mostly gotten from things like bears, so if you see a bear drag it onto deed and let the guard kill it. Then butcher it. (Everyone needs to try to get a butcher knife, you get better results than from a carving knife). Furs are used to make beds.

Leather to make armor. Leather is one of the best armors for non premium players. As your body strength can not go over 20, it is not that heavy so you can still move around fairly quick and go hunting.

Ash, need ash to make leather from hides.

Charcoal so that we can make steel (If you use that wood to make charcoal piles it produces ash, charcoal, and tar.

Bricks, if you want a castle we need tons of bricks, would not be a bad idea to build a bsb in the mine and throw bricks and shards into it. Cobblestone roads also require bricks.

Beyond that there is a ton of construction going on around us not just ours. If you want to make some silver, bricks are a great way to do it, every 500 bricks can be sold for 1s, and to our nearby neighbors they may come pick them up.

If you have not made yourself a small cart yet, carts are invaluable, so much easier to haul things around when doing construction. Premiums should always have a large cart hitched. However non premiums can haul around the small carts, they still help.

If anyone feels like building more animal pens while I am gone, that row I put the 1 pen on should all be 3x3 pens. A 3x3 pen is only big enough for 2 adults and a baby. That way if we have the pens and you see horses or cows you can bring them in and stick them in a pen so the breeding work can be done.

there are towns in the world where street (and walls) circles are around the city center and natural obstacles affect the town structure.
I don't want to say I'm against the grid but mostly it looks so boring and that can be a good point I think ;)

if I understand right...do you suggest that wing and I save some space by removing the path between us?

And I'm not sure if I interpret it right but atm we have a straight path coming up from your gate going between wing/storm and it fits with the not flat outer tiles of my plot (where should be slopes or cliff to the road/street/path coming up from the center). Why do you want to make this part of the grid more "chaos"? Only to please my chaotic european city nature? (last question is obviously a joke ;) )
