Is the prototype going to be the same game or what?

Ha, I just loaded up the prototype out of curiosity myself. It certainly doesn't look like it counts.

Posting to watch.  Saw some info on it on RPS today... so yea.  Didn't the article mention that the prototype is from some sort of batch of prototypes where people choose which one Double Fine should work on?

Yes, Amnesia Fortnight. Double Fine has done that every year for a while where they take 2 weeks off game development in December to come up with teams and new ideas.

Tried the beta at a friends, wooow you cant compare it to the prototype, and it seemed so fun even though my guys and girls died haha. But for 25, no not that fun.

Maybe later on, in bugfixes and lower price..

Looks pretty interesting! But at 25$ it is a bit too much for me to be pick up a game that has yet to prove itself.

PTW.
I might buy if it goes on sale or gets more development but I'm not paying $25 for an Alpha Build.

On a technicality, it is not just the Alpha Build, but the full game when it does finally come out.

Eh, idk, DoubleFine has a history of having great ideas with poor execution. And asking for a ton of money for it despite trying to look indie. I'll just hang out with the Rimworld crowd but keep an eye on this.

As above - it looks great, and I hope they execute it well, but it's too pricey for this stage of development.

Well, apparently the 'Alpha 2' release is out: http://www.spacebasedf9.com/

Now includes things like food, and dying from lack of food.  :P  The 'how to play' video linked on the right hand side is quite interesting to watch - for an alpha release, it's looking like they've got quite a few key features in already.

Still holding off on purchasing (been burned by too many games that looked good initially but ended up not being so - yes, X:Rebirth, I'm looking at you), but optimistic.  :)

This, except I didn't get X:Rebirth due to reviews and the postings here on the forums, and I was looking forward to it..

I'm waiting for a better price on this one - if you think 25 bucks is too much for an unknown indie alpha, then double that. To me it feels like 55 bucks since I'm from Brazil.

It honestly feels like a lot of their problems came from the fact that their entire team was composed of cats, and the people who were supposed to be herding them were also cats.

This game is hilarious. It's the only base-building game I've seen where raiders come and add more rooms to your base.
