What angle range can marksdwarves shoot at?

W=Wall
G=Ground

Basically, can dwarves shoot downwards even straight down? Can they hit the A?

I hear that they have a maximum (or minimum?) 45 degree firing angle.

A quick 5 minute test in the arena suggests that you are correct - shots that are aimed more than 45° below the horizontal tend to hit the floor under the marksdwarf's feet.
