Does anybody still have a WIndows copy of the latest version?  I want to make a THANCS thread for another forum, but it seems that SJ has abandoned the game and closed his website, and I have only the Perl source.  If you have it, please clear out any savefiles and upload it to Dropbox or something so that I can get it.

I'd hate to necro, but did this die? I'm fairly interested in this game and none of the downloads work.

Nobody really plays anymore, but I'd be up for a new game.  That site goes down sometimes, but the downloads seem to be working now.

Alright, 2/3 players is enough.  We could set up either a base game, where we all get starbases with production abilities and build up fleets as we go, or a fleet game where we just get a bunch of predesigned ships and fight. 

The first would give a good way to learn the game and evolve your designs, but the second would let you see how the game plays before doing the design - it's quite different than how most of the original players expected it.  Alternately, you could design your own ships for a fleet game, but with new players in a small match that will likely lead to whoever has a slightly better grasp of ship design winning, and I'd have to sit out or handicap myself.

The mods.rar and graphics.rar files, but I had forgotten that they all come bundled together in "thancs+mods+graphics.rar"; they're only seperate to make it easier to update, so just that one archive and possibly "freeglut.dll" into the 'dll' folder under the main one, which is the OpenGL library used; you may already have it.

It'd be helpful if I had a guide of some kind, and the manuals don't work well with any application I use to open it.

Actually the entire thing is a complete mystery to me.
