Actually, I botched the seperation and he has a good chance of living, if not looking that good afterwards.

You're not hitting same-tile, probably, but he has several unshielded construction craft that will take a lot of abuse from 5 warheads.  If he'd been able to deploy a counter-missile, or deploy a few laser batteries, things would be different, but I'm honestly not sure if he even saw it coming...

I thought for sure that warhead cluster would be coming for me.  I was preparing panic plans.

Draxis, guess you missed the hint in my post about no accelerating this turn... :)

You was bang on target last turn on the W/E axis, all you needed was to drift and release or turn north. Then you could have used the missile thrusters to close the north/south gap on the last move with the missile thrusters.

Still a range 3 hit with multiple missiles, could be nasty.

Yeah, not actually sure how I messed that up; I had been planning to do just that since the turn I launched, and then at the very end just forgot that and accelerated.

I was preparing contingency plans myself just in case the missile came for me :)

Now that the missile won't be a direct hit, sandcasting (building lots of loose armor segments) will be an option for blocking the damage, and the armored fab should block some of the damage too.
Most of the sand should survive for recycling after the attack too.

A good roll on what little point defense is available will be important too.

You said before that warheads deliver a new damage spray to every vessel, and that they cannot be blocked or mitigated by blocking them with other vessels.  Basically, if you're in range of a warhead, you're going to take the full damage coming to you no matter what other ships are in play.

That applies for a direct hit from what Ive been told. (not actually seen a direct warhead hit in a game yet). Eg:

Direct hit - applies full damage splash to every item in Hex.

Distanced hit - applies "linear" damage to the items in a random order through the stack like normal shots. So items hit later on in the order will have damaged blocked from previous items.

Yep.

For the direct hit, the direction of the incoming damage is random for each ship as well, since being in the same hex means the direction is undefined.

Well played Draxis :)
Nasty indeed... you go on a killing spree, whooping a Fab & sniperY all in one round!

Hard luck Ekolis :(
Bad call building the Recycle ship with those missiles incoming.

At this point I'd suggest moving your base to GiH's.  She can defend you from warships and you can provide energy while the team saves up for a replacement fabber.

PS:
According to the in-game info from the construction menu, the solar panels aren't updated to provide 25 energy yet.
I've sent another update command in for this turn, but it might be that I forgot to update the mods folder on the server.
If that's the case, then we won't get the new stuff until I return home and get a chance to do that update.

THANCS+mods+graphics.rar from here, for Windows.   You can also get the source from thancs-gui-source.rar, but it's not up to date.

The source is what you want if you're running linux or mac.

It is a little bit out of date (there have been some improvements to the designer mostly), but nothing that will stop you from playing.

I'll be updating it after new years.
