If you think you can turn it around, bring it back and you should be able to get scrap value for it.
If you can't bring it back, just make sure its going fast enough to not be captured by someone else :)

The critical bit is the disabling of the CnC (computer, cockpit, bridge).  Disabling the caps means no power, which in turn disables the CnC.  You could disable them directly too.

Just a reminder, that if you're the last one to upload, you can play two turns in a row if you just wait 2 minutes for the turn to roll over.

There's been some fun updates since... wow nearly a year ago.

Lasers are now morphable, you can change them from/to beam, pulse, fan.
Fan lasers give a number of 1d beams which are individually aimed, great for shotgunning missiles and small fighters, or peppering an enemy ship to guarantee taking out that mostly damaged component.
Beam is a single high damage beam.
Pulse gives a handful of beams which track/hit in the same spot.
changing from one type to another costs 1CnC point and takes one turn (can still fire on that turn though)

SJ just changed up disruptors too, they're now a bit more specific, so far there's only phase disruptors (which skip shields) and Neural (which only damage CnC components, passing through all other components) but adding Engine and other component specific destroying disruptors are planned.

Got a new gunport and iris, the new one is more than twice the cost of the old, but is 'automatic' allowing your shots to pass through but blocking enemy shots. Other stats are currently the same, but it'll likely end up being a bit heavier than the normal gunport and iris.

There's also been some balance tweaks to armor in attempt to make it more attractive vs shields.

Scrapping damaged components now only gives you a cost which corresponds to the damage, if you scrap a slagged component you won't get as much money for it as you would if you waited for it to be repaired first. Recyclers are still far more efficient and this is less pronounced vs the more dedicated construction components.

The client has had a bunch of tweaks and improvements, you can now design a new ship or edit a current design from ingame, (Great work Ekolis!) as well as a bunch of other small data details.

There is a new executable here to check out: http://imagemodserver.duckdns.org/nick/GreenEggsAndHam/THANCS/
however you might want to give it a couple of days for SJ to fix a few minor things before starting a new game.

Got one active 4 player game going at the moment, once we're happy with the current changes and SJ builds a new executable I'll start a new game - a large slow mobile base with a medium fab, docking ring and some armor so it doesn't turn into a missile war right at the beginning, and a bunch of scattered debris to fight over.

started a new game here: http://pbw.spaceempires.net/games/thancsithink

if it fills up fast I'll open a few more slots.
FFA or teams? I'm tempted to go for teams...

You'll want the Thancs+mods+graphics.rar in the above posted directory, or this direct link:
http://imagemodserver.duckdns.org/nick/GreenEggsAndHam/THANCS/THANCS+mods+graphics.rar
(SJ built a version today, so it's got all the small problems we've so far found with the latest release fixed)

Then you'll need to create an account on PBW: http://pbw.spaceempires.net/
There's currently no single player, other than designing ships for future use in multiplayer.

I'd say PTW, but it's more "posting to show interest".

Don't have the time currently - but I shall show up here again sooner or later.

I spent half of today messing around with modding in some asteroid-y things and a refinery.
I'll do a quick test and if everything looks ok, then the  http://pbw.spaceempires.net/games/thancsithink game I will use it.

We just need one more player in the current game.

Dull question - is there any way for the PBEM to be turned into a hotseat format? I'd like to test my designs on this first.

you can start a single player game on PBW.

Is that vs. AI or other humans on the same PC?

you'd play multiple players on the same pc exactly the same way as you'd play multiple players on different PCs. you'll have to log out and in to pbw each player though.
there is currently no ai.
