Ah... I didn't realise that the shields had that damage factor... looks like I need to rethink the "disruptors and armor" plan for next game.

The damage factor allows them to be solid against weak hits, but still leak heavier shots without going completely to zero.

For comparison, Girlinhat can tank a theoretical 420 dmg on the shields, +28 regen per turn.  As the shields weaken, a lot of damage will leak to internals before the shields are at zero.

Your ship can tank 320dmg with DR 2.5 vs beams (DR 5 vs turbolasers and disruptors) plus 180 on deflector shields +24 regen.  And the deflectors amplify the effectiveness of the DR emissive ability.
The armor does not let (much; 10% leak when its almost dead) damage through to internals until it reaches zero.

New version is up:
 - Speed improvement on shipview, particularly when there are lots of damage traces.
 - Background of ship view now shows ship motion.

Are any of the people who have posted here (or haven't) but haven't played a game be interested in one?  I would be glad to help out with it.

I'm currently in no games right now and wouldn't mind playing or organizing it.

Does anybody mind if I take over USEC's ship in the FFA and blow it up, to stop the map from expanding?

I was sort of blundering around, trying to join as USEC's empire, when I accidentally kicked Ekolis... this was not intentional, please rejoin.

And, it seems I can't send in the orders for USEC anyway.  Oh well.

Somehow Xintis was set as an active player in the game, which I didn't think was possible.
I've assigned Ed back to the slot and taken over USEC's empire to give the self-destruct order.

Go ahead and kick me after the turn rolls and the map shrinks.

Fennec Vs Invincible:
The best way to describe this fight is a dedicated sandblasting.  The "Space Laser Shotgun" design isn't doing enough damage to actually pierce the emmisive armor to much degree (some single points of damage passing) but at the same time, the heavy disruptors aren't firing enough to get through my shields.  The end result is that the Fennec is firing 28 lines of damage from 8 separate guns, and statistically speaking, some of them will pierce through open gunports or edge items.  The small flak lasers on the sides were ablated off by sustained fire, and now one of his disruptors has been taken out by fire coming through the open gunport.  In the meantime, he's pounding my shields in single large bursts, which is failing to fully deal with my shields, while I'm destroying his equipment faster than he's penetrating shielding.  Especially now that his firepower has been cut into less than half, victory seems certain for the Fennec.

And then we're going to pound that Storm Eagle into oblivion.  How dare you attack my glorious vulpine crew members while we attempt to aid in your fight against the Invincible?!

EDIT: SJ, feature request: A command to fire all weapons on the same angle at one target.  Fennec has 8 forward guns, and it gets old.  A shift+a command to fire EVERYTHING would be very helpful.

It's funny you chose the name Fennec for your ship, too, because I chose Fennekin as my starting Pokemon in Pokemon X... so now I kind of have a bit of a sentimental attachment to your ship, much like you have for Dessard's ship!

It looks like there are no new players wanting to play, so who wants to start another regular game?  At this point, I would be for letting SJ or any other more experienced players join as well.

Interestingly enough, Storm Eagle's stage is my favorite from Megaman X.  This must be a sign of some sort!

Fennec Vs Invincible:
Yeah, it seems like the Invincible's design was not up to dealing with the Fennec.  In its defense, I designed it to perforate carriers while surviving fighter attack, not to fight capital ships with such high firepower, but still I think I am done with the very heavy armor rings that my older designs had.

Actually the Invincible is doing a fine job of absorbing my attacks!  After all, I've done nearly zero armor damage.  Perhaps a more threatening version would be to cover every angle in armor + deflector, and put a fabricator in the middle, able to push out weapon platforms that can shoot back.  After all, the vessel itself is practically immune to everything except heavy disruptors...

I've got a friend who wants in a new game, she especially wants to take on my Fennec (which will be slightly redesigned) so we might want to do a 3 FFA or a 2v2.
