Also if you're on Windows, then "print screen" or "alt + print screen"

Linux, but I could do something similar.  It was just frusturating to copy and crop and all that when the folder was filling up with screenshots I didn't mean to take.

Pressing S to save by mistake, thinking you're in the ship designer? :)

Gui update:
 - Stats still show for dead players.
 - Nav flower remains visible even when ships reach ludicrous speed.

Invincible actually has a very difficult forward defense.  The deflectors reduce damage and the emmisive nullifies it.  The only way to start breaking through is to just volley fire to drain his deflectors, and then start smashing through the armor.  Or go around his backside.

Luckily my ship is virtually designed for that.  It can survive a brief frontal attack, blow past the enemy, and turn to fire while drifting out of range.

And yes.  We need the option to toggle damage displays.  Warheads (and the Fennec) can slow down the game when viewing the ship's damage lines.

Gui update:
Fix to the background avoids wackiness when travelling beyond the 1000 hex mark.
Starmap added as a more interesting background.  (update your graphics)

Wut, THANCS has a starmap now? Pretty soon you'll have a AAA game on your hands :P

It's not brown enough to be a AAA game.

So what's the deal with the Invincible, and specifically Emmisive Armor?  I just RAILED that ship with massive damage, and his armor doesn't seem to have suffered in the least.  Damage passing: 7 and no visible damage...

Looks like about 4 pts made it through to the underlying armor.
A couple of bolts hit the disruptors and lasers too.

Your turbolasers deliver two particles of 4 dmg each (max 7 combined).
The nearly-depleted deflectors take the edge off, soaking about 1 pt from the 4 each (3+3dmg particles max 5 dmg now)  A little more reduction where there are two deflectors.
Then the emissive is hit, and pulls an average of 2.5 damage out of each particle, leaving nothing left on average.

Emissive coating doesn't wear down, and blocks damage per particle.  There are some places where multiple beams intersected, and the emissive blocked 5+ damage total.
A heavy anti-ship gun is what you want to punch through that emissive forward armor.  Turbos are essentially firing 8 medium laser bolts per turn, which emissive coating laughs at.

The "getting behind him" plan is good.  Tanking the fire until he runs out of energy and is forced to drop the deflectors would also work;  without the deflectors, the emissive will definitely leak some damage and the gaps in the armor will be vulnerable.
You've also battered the deflectors way down in strength to about 20% from their 40% previously; more blunt hammering should start to leak through as well.  The shield arc indicator is pretty dark blue.

I'm also just railing laser shotguns.  Statistically speaking, I think every salvo should deal some damage through his gunports.

Speaking of what's up with defenses, how did that 15-point shield stop a 20-point beam and survive with 8 health?

The heavy disruptor bolts are 20 damage blobs composed of many particles.
The lead particle is 12 damage, plus 4 on each side and a tail of 3 and 1 damage IIRC.
The Hex shield has 15sp, and a 0.2 damage factor, so it can soak 75 damage on average.

The shield started out at 14/15, with a regeneration point queued.

The 14 pts of shield blocks the 12 damage particle and thanks to the 0.2 damage factor, loses 2sp +40% chance of losing a third.
The two 4 dmg particles both get blocked, and the shield has two 80% chances of losing 1sp
At that point, the blob has run out of damage, so the tail doesn't get to hit.
The extra two medium laser hits each had an 80% chance of draining 1sp.

On average the shield will lose 5.6 sp when tanking 28dmg.  Anywhere from 2 to 7 pts depending on how extreme your luck is.

14-7+1=8sp

So it looks like you rolled perfectly for shield damage against that left wing.  Odds of scoring damage that high is 1 in 6.  (0.16384 to be exact)
