Ah.  If you're using the linux/source files, add
Code: [Select]
use lib::gameutilities; to the bottom of the list of "use"es at the top of the file.
I'll rebuild the exe version shortly, when I get home from work.

Whew, that was a long day!

Client fix is up:
Missing dependency broke the Dockview

That fixed it, thanks.

Also I might take you up on that B5 no shield match.

Cool.
If it gets 4 players, then it could be 2v2 with one member of each team having the carrier + fighters and the other member having a small fleet of escort ships.
Escorts protect the carrier, and fighters protect the escorts :)

As a rough draft on the warship/carrier, I'm going to aim for $60k with a required capacity of at least 8 fighters.

Might also be interesting to assign a standard set of 2 or 3 fighter designs (PD/dogfighter,bomber variants of a starfury), and then let loose with a $60k limit, but all the fighters you can dock to the carrier don't count against the limit.
My estimate of costs:
- $350 per fighter for clamp 1s, but they require a fighter with a docking prong.
- $1750 per fighter for drydock ($3500 but holds 2 at once)
- $1750-$585 per fighter for spacedock 1 ($2000 + 1500 worth of reactors to run, holds 2 comfortably butup to 4-6 if there is open space left around it for the fighters to hang out into)

Downside of the spacedock is that it requires a lot of hull 3, but upside is it doesn't need energy when the fighters are away.
Due to the partial shielding effect, the spacedocks should be required to be "internal" to the carrier for this game.  Internal could be defined as pointing more towards the center of mass than away.

Edit:
Looks like my design is going to be close to $80k, with half of that being the armor; armoring something this big is expensive! :D

Edit2:
Even bigger than I thought:
$90k, but plenty of dock space, respectable speed and sloped armor.  Two aft turbolasers to discourage fighters from trying to shoot out the engines.
The drydock can be swapped out for a fabber if we decide to have fabbers in the game (I'm thinking we probably should, for fighter repairs at least.)
And the docking bay could be refitted to use clamps if need be, since there are plenty of hull hardpoints in there.

you windows users may also be interested in the pbw client I wrote, I've just updated the release so it will work with a small change to PBW. also tweaked the gamesettings.ini for THANCS to load the game/turn/player file.

What does it do?
automates the checking for new turns,
downloading new turns,
unpacking new turns,
running new turns,
uploading new turns.

each of these processes can be done at the touch... push? click! of a button in the PBWAutoclient, rather than visiting PBW, looking at the games, clicking to download the game, once it's downloaded unpacking it to the correct folder, then launching the game, then afterwards going to PBW again, clicking upload, then finding the game file you want to upload... etc. etc.
ekolis complains that it could automate more, ie by just downloading, then unpacking without you having to click, but eh. the current version works and I'm lazy.

to use, download the release: https://github.com/se5a/PBWAutoClient/releases/tag/v0.2-beta
(or the source, and compile if you're so inclined) unpack it to wherever you like, run the executable, click settings.
in the Server Settings tab change your PBW Login from Xintis to your PBW username, and your PBW password.
in the Game Settings tab scroll down to
THANCS
select the entry under gameExe and edit it from F:\Program Files (x86)\Games\THANCS2\THANCS-perlgui.exe to wherever you've got THANCS installed.
tweek the THANCS->MODS->stock_thancs_0->savepath as well.
repeat with any other PBW games you play. (I know it works with THANCS, FrEee, seIV, and I'm told it works with seV as well)

feel free to post bug reports, though unless it's a really serious and/or easy to figure out I've been pretty lazy with updating it.  feel free to fork and do pull requests too. that's even better than bug reports :p

Girlinhat: want to start that game?  Nobody else has expressed interest, so I can make a 1v1, or leave a third slot just in case.

Simple game, $60,000 no special rules.  Go ahead and start a 3 way FFA, I'll hop in.

Actually, I personally would rather not you join, simply because we're all still learning effective combats, and you would sully the dwarven brainstorm with your 'good' designs...

Anyone feel free to veto me, of course, but this was a call for a 2nd game to refine plans based on what we've learned in the first one.

ALSO can we boot Axrayel from the Foxtrot game?  He already said he wouldn't be able to keep up.

Do you want a replacement player for Azrayel instead?

Without a fabber, the doom factor is limited, and I need to learn to psychologically handle suffering irreparable damage :D

That I wouldn't care about.  We've mostly gotten through what our designs do and have shortcomings, and learned basics like movement and whatnot, so the rest of the game is just semantics.

Sorry about all that guys, school has been hectic.  I shall refrain from more pbw games for a time until I can be sure that won't happen again  :'(

Anyway, best of luck to the rest of you and great game SJ&friends.

Is anybody else having problems loading the new save? Whenever I try to do so, it gives me the error "Modification of non-creatable array value attempted, subscript -3 at line 623". Loading the other turns works perfectly fine.
