They don't usually aim for orbit. It's a small hop into orbit, which is far easier. And with the reduced range and relative speeds, it should be easy to avoid them.

A nuclear explosive relies on common explosives to impact a warhead. These reactions, while self oxidizing, don't do well in a vacuum. They're not designed for it, and don't work well.

Additionally, how are you going to detonate it. We will sabotage radio transmissions, evade timed missiles, and contact detonation is pretty useless.

Forget joining poketwo, I'll just form the United Humanity Front, we'll say as a direct cause of SADIST's broadcasts.

In addition to what I stated before...

Use metal resources acquired to repurpose large fleets of civilian vehicles as technicals, IFVs and troop transports.
Start underground media campaign to increase recruitment
stockpile weapons and munitions, producing them or acquiring them by any means necessary

Defect from the Sunshine squad and form my own faction centered on a military colony base on the moon. When I defect take the sunshine special forces, 10,000 sunshine regulars and one of the space frigates with me.
Build mining facilities on the moon and solar arrays to provide tons of power.
Sell said excess power to anyone willing to give metal in exchange for it.

Propose a Non aggression pact with adwarf. For the moment, that is.

Anyone who is against Sunshine is our friend, and since our mission is to destroy earth why not let him have a little base on the moon next to ours.

How is it that the only group I'm friends with is the omnicidal space terrorists?

We're not omnicidal. We only want to kill everything on Earth. Think of us as being really convinced space exploration proponents.

Space frigates aren't done yet Adwarf, wait a few turns

On another note the current U.S Minuteman III ICBM contains 1 W87 (500-600lbs) thermonuclear warhead, these warheads use a fission explosion (which is nescessarily self contained in the warhead to achieve correct pressures and therefore uneffected by space) to set off a secondary fusion reaction from which the explosive draws most of its power, a classic Teller-Ulam design, this design is perfectly capable of detonating in a vacuum without any major defects or troubles.

On the viability of space-flight for a nuclear weapon, there was a project launched by the U.S. airforce to accomplish this very thing. Project A119 was a U.S, initiative to launch and detonate an ICBM on the moon. The U.S was able to accomplish this in 1959, but the project was cancelled due to potential outcry from the public. While this project did not actually occur, it does demonstrate that we have had the ability to launch missiles at extra-terrestrial targets for atleast fifty years. And although the project was intended to be used with the much lighter W25 Warhead (200-250 lbs) it was also intended to reach the moon. Reaching geostationary orbit with a warhead twice that size is well within the realm of possibility assuming we're using current tech.

As for detonation the W87's re-entry vehicle is equiped with a targeting computer and self-guiding propulsion system enabling it almost pinpoint accuracy when fired at ground targets. As for a moving target, course trajectory can be altered via a ground base through missile operator staff using heavily encrypted and tight-beam radio transmission. This means before you could attempt to jam the radio signal, you'd have to first find the specific wavelength it's being transmitted on. So with that it's really a game of cat-and-mouse as ground control continually switches frequencies and you continually chase them.

In other words, yeah, i just want to blow up some space stations  :'( why must you ruin my fun?

I know that project, and it was not possible. No ICBM, current or past, can reach the moon.

And well, course trajectory is harder in space than it's on the ground. After all, ICBM is short for Inter Continental Ballistic Missile. The ballistic part is referring to the part spent in space, because the missile has no capability to change it course there. (No steering rockets, and fins tend to work bad in vacuum)

Nuking yellowstone with nukes we don't have was one of them.
Which is more impractical, faking a space company to make a massive moon base or nuking Yellowstone to trigger a supervolcano?

Also: Dammit L.W. Burns, we weren't supposed to turn this into 1984, we were supposed to stop Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy! Well, the initial scenes at least. And aliens instead of crazies. There are remarkably few stories where humans deliberately destroy Earth, you know that?

Wonder how the SADISTSs are creating all this ultratech when they have virtually no support.

Create an official world government
(I'm imagining something like the Hegemony from the Ender's Game universe) and hold elections for various positions.

Continue training and advanced training.

Create research bases and uranium-refinement centers.

Research combat drones.

Wait, I'm confused. Did the megavirus actually get released, or have we just had smallpox so far?

Perhaps not a current design, but it would be easily modifiable to accomplish the task. Simply because it can't with current design doesn't mean it couldnt with a few simple modifications. Im not talking about an unmodified ICBM after-all, a few extra solid fuel boosters, or hell even fitting an actual orbital rocket with the warheads,  would be more than capable at providing the required extra thrust. (although it is certainly more complex than that, it is the gist). And the same thing for fitting a rudimentary reaction control system to guide the re-entry vehicle during space-flight.

Either way the GM will decide, it's not as if most of whats happening in this game is even remotely feasible.  :P

Edit: Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy you say? Then i know exactly what to do!
