'Springa Inn' sounds sort of like 'Spriggan Inn', which would be bad news.

So, I suspect it's a trap to waylay travelers. Whether that makes it more or less attractive to visit depends on whether your love of adventure is greater than your love of practicality.

we need to head downriver and start looking for caves in the cliff-face of the dried out waterfall.

Also ask the women about the river. Is it seasonal, or has it not run for awhile?

You continue downriver, and ask Pearl whether the river is always like this.

"It's usually a fast-flowing river, but navigable by rafts and canoes here. Upriver it's white-water and perilous, and travel upwards is done by animals pulling the boat from the bank. Downriver the falls were a portage where you would have to carry your goods and boat down and around to the base, then continue. The river is much wider and calmer from that point on."

"The river usually goes shallow in the Summer up here, but farther down there are more tributaries and the lower river is more stable year-round. Last Summer was very hot and the upper river went almost completely dry. It never recovered, and rumor was the trolls dammed or diverted it somehow."

"The only times I've used the river were the long trek around north to meet up with the lower river, where you make, buy, or hire a boat at a goblin camp called Nowhen."

The riverbed twists and turns. Sometimes sheer cliffs dozens of feet high rise up on both sides for a few hundred feet, then the banks return to alternating man-height soil cliffs and shallow gravel beaches. Where the river cuts through the stone, the road to the left (south side) is also cut in next to it, like a tunnel with one side open to the river. The sky brightens, though the sun has not yet risen above the eastern mountains.

You continue walking along the dry middle of the river until you spot a place where the river cuts right into a tunnel in a cliff face. There's light beyond. Another upright boulder with writing on it next to the road on your left. Looks like the road goes into the river tunnel too.

There's an upright boulder here.

Claire, Charlotte, and Pearl are here.

Read Boulder. Allow the women to lead. They would know where to go. Make some more small talk as you walk. Perhaps ask what if any advantages goblins have that allow them to think they can fight the trolls.

Ask present company about this "Springa Inn". They've probably heard of it, or if it's long abandoned, at least know that.

You ask about Springa Inn. They haven't heard anything more than that it's near the center of the gremlin territory.

You light your torch with your engraved lighter, and press on into the tunnel. Inside there is little vegetation and the road looks like easier going than the riverbed. The tunnel ceiling is well out of reach above you - it looks like if you were on a boat and the river were full up to the road you'd still be two man-heights from the ceiling. You spot occasional holes in the ceiling at the edge of your torch's weak light.

Ahead you see a tunnel off the side of the road to your left. It's wide enough for two to fight side by side, and its ceiling isn't as high as the main tunnel. A red glow comes from inside. To reach it you'll have to climb the roughly man-height rock wall to get up to the road.

Claire unlimbers her bow from about her shoulder and nocks an arrow. Charlotte draws a sword and knife and Pearl draws her dagger.

Claire, Charlotte, and Pearl are here.

Tell the women to take concealed positions nearby, and then make a rukus to draw whatever is inside into an ambush. Ready your spear.

+1, could try to scare whatever it is away, that troll song in the dream? Might cause an over reaction though.
