Aww, you guys flatter me  I'll try to resist the alluring siren-song of Gloorx for the tournament.

Akhier, I don't mind being bumped at all, feel free to throw me wherever. I'm in it for the gold and glory.

I'll definitely be going for a GrGl of Zin first, I've fallen madly in love since trying them for the first time. Probably HeIE second, since it's my "impossible to screw up" combo. May try to 4-5 rune a MfDk or any other slightly less-popular XXDk combo, since I tried one last tournament and it went really well, right up until I sort of went and died in the post-endgame ._.

Also great to see we're fielding three teams with a chance for more! This will make for some pretty awesome discussions on all levels of play, I hope - talking about games has to be my favourite part of playing games.

Gravenous, right? I believe things are all squared away as far as my Captaincy concerned.

I think I'm gonna start with a HOFi with the intention of priesting things up, just to get in the swing of things, and when that inevitably goes belly-up I'll go with a DDBe or a MiFi just to try and get a win under my belt.

Hello there, I'm a big lurker in the forums, but I've participated before in dungeon crawl tournaments here, I feel like playing in this one again, yay!

I can play around 2 hours every day and I guess several hours on weekends, I have beat the game twice, once with 15 runes, and can get runes fairly consistently, though I haven't played much in a while now and I'm probably rusty, so I can't promise anything.

I'm not sure for which team I qualify for, I don't care either way

   Not sure where I can fit you at the moment. I have put up a wild card team for anyone that comes and want to join as with you we have 3 teams +1 person and I think we can manage 5 more people. If we don't get another player for the Champions team then I don't know what we will do but you may be shifted to Blacksmiths.

   I have been mostly only placing people who asked to be put there in it. Its the same reason I waited for Graven to respond. I don't want to put anyone in a position they don't want. I have been straight forward in wanting the Champions team to be Bay12 members and of a good skill level and this could stress some people unduly if they think we want a lot from them rather then just whatever they want to do. If we had exactly 3 teams then I would have easily bumped Graven up and put Will in Blacksmiths though I probably would have first asked if he wanted to be in Champions. Because of having more then 3 teams worth of people I decided to wait and see. Also I figured I might be able to bait a few more skilled players over here from the Crawl thread by mentioning we need someone to fill a Champions spot.

I will note that the Champions team needs to be finalized by 10am EST since I'll be at work after that, and thus unable to update the roster before the tournament starts.

To note, teams can be changed until Oct 19 and all games you have played during the tournament still count toward your team.

   Well the tournament starts in ~12 hours and I would really like to have at least a couple more people because as it is we have one spare person. With a couple or more people the Nobles team would at least be a thing and not just a person. Well whatever happens lets all have a good tournament. Anyway even if we don't get it right away there is still have 8 days beyond the start to sign up more people.

By the way, if there are enough people to "fill" a fourth team, with a level near the blacksmiths, I would love to be in, and let a slot for more "novice" players to get in the Miners

   With that in mind I can do some last minute moves to fix up the gap in the Champion team. Antur gets into Miners, you get into Blacksmiths, and Graven will go to Champions. This will leave Will as the odd man out in the Nobles team. Hopefully we can fill in more slots.

   You are currently all by yourself so if you don't want to be in a team all by yourself its not problem but I think we will manage a few more people to fill in the Nobles team.

You could modify the thread title to something like "more players wanted" or somesuch. I know I would skip this thread if I saw it after it supposedly started. There's still about a week to go before team deadline's up.


I'll start with a TeGl. I splatted a few when I was testing online/0.13 version, seemed fun with Fedhas. Will still probably pick Makhleb in the tourney, health-on-kills should compensate Tengu's low HP. This actually seemed like a a very good combo when starting with a polearm. Thanks to the early 'fly' ability you can outrun most early/midgame opponents, using throwing nets for worst stuff and then just poking them to death with your trident.

   It was actually supposed to be modified but apparently having multiple tabs open can get the better of me sometimes. As for how I will start it will probably fall into my usual pattern of using stuff that hasn't been played yet.

I'd like to remind all players to remember to edit their rcfiles so that they're actually in their teams. Champions and miners seem to be doing well, but only ones in Bay12 Blacksmiths at the moment are me and Aelig.

Remember to save before exiting the file. I think that the server updates teams every four hours or so, so don't fret if you've edited the file but it doesn't show up immediately.

Unless I'm going for a streak, I'll pass any variation of minotaur or berserker for the tourney. Other than that I'll try to keep things viable. I'll probably fill a small mortuary with tengus, ogres and ghouls this tourney.
Nothing wrong with beating a Mi/HO/whatever's cool these days. It's just that I like to root for the underdog. Same reason I rarely go for axes. Well, that and the ridiculous 26 skill/min delay on exec axes.

I never played online, does it have a tiles version? Also, how many games over how many days would I be expected to play? I'd like to give it a go, but RL is kinda hectic these days so I'd average like 1h/day. As for my skill level, I got a rune 2-3 times, but that was many versions ago.
