   Yeah its really not. Just putting those lines at the top of your 0.13 option file and once its saved alls good until we get a final Champion to fill the team. Anyway even if someone does make a mistake there is a good bit of time to fix it.

I recently did a rune where I got 2 runes, but that's the only one I got those. I "usually" clean Lair & Orc before loosing, and there are Miners needed.

It will be my first tournament, thought, so don't hesitate to give me any advice.

So, obviously we are hoping for more past winners (Dr Feelgood, GFlex, Kamina, Alg, there's lots of them right?) to join us, but if not, would Moron/Train be willing to join the Champions maybe? He has captained our top team in the past, and probably can't have significantly less free time to play than I do for instance... I say that, but I am still hoping enough players will sign up that I can be bumped back down a team I have 5 wins altogether, but still feel like a noob most of the time.

I'd be interested in joining the Miners if space is still available. I routinely progress into the Lair and Mines, and have cleared both a few times. My best characters have died deep in the Lair sub-branches.

If you're logged into Webtiles (CSZO), towards the top of the screen you'll see a line that says "Play now" followed by "DCSS trunk", "DCSS 0.13 (beta)", etc. Each of those links is a specific version of the game you play by clicking on them- the tournament will be in DCSS 0.13. Just to the right of that link it says "(edit rc)"; that's the file you need to edit.

I haven't played on any of the other servers, so if you're not there then hopefully somebody else can help you.

   I don't know what other servers need but on the CAO one after you log on you get the choice of verions (tournament is going to be 0.13) then one of the options is to edit options and you choose that and put the correct line at the top of the thing that leads to.

Ninja Monk12 and what I put at the top of my post should probably give you an idea of how to edit the file and if it doesn't just post what your playing on and someone will know what to do. Also welcome to the team!

Edit: With all but the Champions team full next time someone joins, unless they are going to Blacksmith and we can elevate one of the ones suggested by Vogonpoet or Leafsnail there will probably be a new team added at the Miners level unless they are a begginer. I am hoping though we can get a Blacksmith or Champion to make it easier.

I think I will just remove soapers and make a new team at the level of Miners. Its basically the same thing but its not.

Graven certainly has had some epic deaths in the past... has to be better than me though - I was killed by Mnoleg once, which puts me in a fairly select group of not very clever players apparently - everyone on #crawl rushed to watch my death on FooTV for some reason. They were disapointed I guess - just a stupid lack of good positioping death.

I have had two (three? crap, I think it might be three) extended game deaths and only ever escaped with a max of 4 runes (lair x 2, vaults, icy) on my TeFE, whereby Cocytus really is a joke. To be fair, that Tengu might have managed more runes if I had more time - it was my last game of the previous tourney, and I was a bit rushed to finish in time.

Anyway, heres hoping I find time to win a GrEE this time round. If I can't get a rune with one of those early on, I guess I will have to go with my fallback MiGl of Okie safe combo.

EDIT: CDO got 0.13 up, yay, time to automatically hit 't' 'p' at start up and realise I am meant to be playing '1' 'p' instead, every single time I play. Definitely the only disadvantage of only ever playing Trunk outside the tourneys.

   That should be fine and if anything is wrong we will have time to fix it. As for the points it keeps track of it just like it always does. One of the nice thing about the online is that it keeps track of it all in a nice format if you know where to look. Once the tournament starts of course to find the stats for it will be easy though I will put links in the OP.

at the very top you put "# TEAMCAPTAIN akhier" and it should be fine.

   I will probably fit you into Miners as it stands and move someone currently there to Blacksmiths and then move Graven to Champions since both Vogonpoet and Leafsnail said he would fit.

@Everone in Miners
   Which of you would like to move up to Blacksmiths if I end having to? If no one else joins then it won't matter what skill level you have as I would much rather have 3 full teams.

   If no one else joins or someone else wants to join the Blacksmiths your first up to be move to Champions. Is this okay with you?

So, anyone got any specific plans? I've been playing Naga Skalds of Chei at the moment - firstly just to challenge myself, but with the Skald changes in .13, it seems like it might be quite viable if you can get past the start. Stacking armor and using Song of Slaying should be enough to just stand there and cut down the enemies as they come to you. I think I'll stick with it when the tournament starts, if only because there's a good chance of getting the first win with that particular class combo (you get bonuses for that, right? Or is that only for YOUR first win with a particular class combo)?

As a relative novice, I'm going to stick with a standard like KoBe, at least for the beginning. See how many branches, uniques, and runes I can accomplish with that. I have no endgame experience- so if I get to the point where I'm hitting a wall, I will switch to some other combinations.

You get a bonus for using unpopular races and classes too.  So if you think you can win a strange combo, go for it (stuff like TrEE or whatever could work, since Trolls are strong enough that they can just go Trog and win from almost any start).

My big aim this time is to try and get a streak.  Basically I'll play a ridiculously easy combo straight after a win.  My first goal is to 15-rune a HEIE though.
