Since it doesn't specify the type I'd assume it's for all ghosts.

A formal apology from me, I forgot exactly how laggy it is for me to play webtiles (frequently got into the range of 400~500ms ping) and I ended up with a lot less time than I thought I would have between my masters degree and part-time job. I seriously considered going for a 100% winrate by winning just that one VpEn I started and not playing afterwards, but ended up unable to finish that character as well. I think I might need to step down from future tournaments, sorry again folks.

Congratulations and well done to all who played in the tournament. :D At least I got a couple of shiny new ribbons.

I seriously considered going for a 100% winrate by winning just that one VpEn.

I was looking through webtiles statistics and witnessed some madness recently. There are players with 40+% winrate and over 100 games.
I Understand that they started playing webtiles while already being dcss experts, but how this is possible? Even 40% is bearable in mind, but what about 60+% winrate?
I always thought that you will die frequently due to fails and unhappy conditions. Ok, throw out fails, but random shit will always happen! And I don't believe it happens only in 40% of games! Ok, some of that shit can be predicted and avoided, but this is still there.
How it is possible?

The first small thing that made me feel awesome was my indoor waterfall. A few minutes later though, it started flooding my fort so I felt less awesome.

Thats the win rate of a really good player. Now thats probably an account for some great player to play seriously on but if you look at the tournament these are the top 3 players

#nameteamscorewonplayed%
1bmfxRuney Mara7942213461.76%
278291501491369.23%
3ellipticULTIMATE BUG REPORT49451010100.00%

Note the 100% winrate in there for 10 straight games. While its not exactly sustainable you can get an amazing winrate if you are good enough. Also to note, the 10 game streak while the best atleast 2 people had 7 game winning streaks during the tournament.

So it seems I accidentally put my canteen in my wheelbarrow and didn't notice... and then I got really thirsty... so right before going to sleep I go to take a swig from my canteen and... end up snorting a line of low-grade meth.

Dying in Crawl has fairly little to do with luck, particularly so if you play strong combos. Sure there's a chance for some rng bs in D1 but there's a lot less of that than in... let's say NetHack.

Yes random shit does happen, but a good player dodges that with smart play and cleans it up with the tools that game provides.

For slightly worse players, strong combos matter more. During the tourney I rolled a few kobold assassins, they died pretty quickly. Both berserkers I started made it to xp levels 10 (DDBe) and 17 (MiBe) without breaking a sweat.
