   We are on different teams which is what they really mean by clans. Also Champions does not automatically win, they just have players who have won the game on it. If you manage to win the game during the tournament or do something worth a lot of points your team could end up having a higher rank then the Champions. This is just a way to sort teams so that your with people who match your skill level and Bay12 has a better chance of having a team which is in the top ten. During the 2010 tournament my team the Miners managed to rank higher then the Blacksmiths for a number of days because I had more high scores with various combinations. In the end my team fell behind but thats because at the end better players went for some of my lower scores.

   Oh no, be in it to win it. Thats fine, the harder you try the better you will get unless you really go overboard. If you can single handily pull your team to first place then power to you. Its just there are some really good players. And those are just a few and a few of those players where on the same team last tournament and I don't see why they wouldn't be this time around as well. When the Champions got 10th in the 2010 tournament it was a big thing.

You get points for achieving 6* piety with each god, so if you're a player who can't quite win then I'd strongly recommend shooting for those.  Also you can get 5 points the first time you enter each branch so do that too.  And look for combos with ridiculously low high scores and try to beat those.

Another piece of advice for players who haven't quite won yet: play easy combos so that you can win and get the bonus for winning your first two games with different characters.  Two I have in mind are:

- DDBe.  Use axes.  Train axes, and eventually armour and fighting.  Use the wand of healing.  If you run out, recharge it.  If you're running out of MP, train evocations.  Use Trog's abilities.
- TrHu.  Go Trog.  If anything is too threatening for you to kill in melee, throw rocks at it.  Use a shield (TrFi is a good choice too).  Use Trog's abilities.

I just edited my rcfile according to the OPs list. Will check this thread daily in case anyone up- or downgrades their team.

Is there a place to check individual and clan rankings? I found this link but it's 404. Might just be that the site won't go up until the 11th though.

Best way to handle orc priests early is to flee or kill them really really fast. Nagas are slow so both options are a bit harder than other races.

I would like to join aswell, I play on CLAN and my ingame name is Aelig.

I had a character who died in zot (enraged orb guardians are no joke) and several other who got 1~2 runes.
Given that info I should probably be in Blacksmiths but Miners is fine as there is no spot left.

Once the tournament goes live you can see it. Thats partly why they give you time to mess with teams after it starts. Also I just moved vogonpoet up to Champions and replaced him with Aelig.

   I can put you in Miners or Champions as I have already shifted the person in Blacksmiths that had told me he would be fine with shifting. If you will be playing a good bit I will happily place you in Champions as this seems to be one of those games where once you get it you can pick it back up again and if you have won multiple times then you should be fine. Tell me which you want and I will put you in right away.

What does the captain even do?

   A captain puts two lines in his option file while a regular member a team puts one. Basically the captain is the one who decides the name and who is in it then those who he decides is in it have to agree by putting his name in their options.

Ah what the hell, sign me up for the Champions I guess. I have a three rune and six rune ascension for a sexy win rate of 1.54%, so I expect to be the albatross around the team's neck, but whatever, losing is fun.

If nobody else can be arsed to Captain, I'll do it. I'm monk12 there as well as here.
