   The reason I am bothering with the tier system as you call it is because I like to win in tournaments. I liked that while my team was not in the top ten a Bay12 team was in the 2010 tournament.
   I am also splitting the people up this way because it allows people to be on a team of similar skill. Have you ever seen how when in school or what have you people get teamed up and there is one person who just stands out as better? In a lot of instances this generally causes the others to either feel pressured to be what they are not yet able to be or get dejected and start failing more. If your in a team of people at your skill level then you can compete with and against your team mates and it tends to make a better game. On the main crawl thread if you look at the one post I did I posted the standings for all Bay12 teams in the 2010 tournament. Champions took 9th and that was amazing but what was even more amazing was that the next three teams where all within 10 spots of eachother despite having basically the same breakdown I have here. I copied LASD's rankings and when people who say they can get runes (Blacksmiths) as a team are in 14th and then the team who only claim to get to the temple level (Miners) as a team are only 3 places behind at 17th something was right.
   I might just be nostalgic for that feel I got from that time. It is quite possible that it would be better to just have teams with no particular range of skill. I would prefer to believe differently. Anyway it gives people something to work for. If they are in Miners now and the Blacksmiths place high in the tournament think of what it would mean to be able to join the Blacksmiths next tournament?

guess i'll step up & join you guys as a champion, but i've only got one 3-rune ascension...

if the team fills up and an abler person on blacksmiths wants my spot i'm more than happy to swap 

i assume the rcfile settings aren't case-sensitive but if they are, my webtiles name is all lowercase

   Just asked on ##crawl and they say its not case sensitive so thats all good. At the moment your alone up at the top though since you didn't request it I did not put you in the captain spot. If we get more Blacksmiths then there are definitely people who will be joining you though. And never mind your not alone because of Ninjasnail

Participants in the tournament may form clans of six or fewer players. If you wish to be a member of a clan, you need to add a line to the top of one of your version 0.13 rcfiles like this:

The idea of having tiered teams is so that we can see how high we can get a Bay 12 team up the rankings, and also so that everybody feels they can make a meaningful contribution to their team.
