He sees you not take the oath

Sam hasn't seen Aurora not take any oath. Clover was speaking to Basayen. Aurora said nothing. None of the npc applicants said anything either. She wasn't talking to us.

I expect we will all get asked if selected. Just thinking ahead.

...so you're, umm...preemptively looking for reasons to dislike Aurora?

On another note, what does everyone think of this wager? I don't understand why a bet would be against the rules. The only thing suspicious about it is the fact that Mead Mix apparently wants to keep it a secret for some reason.

Because gambling tends to be frowned upon? Against the rules, no. Not exactly favorable for our getting chosen? Yes. Mead Mix probably said we could keep it secret for Autumn Swift's sake, since she seemed to dislike the idea of the Ring finding out we were participating in such activity.

I just kinda think of it less as bets and more as parting gifts, so to speak.

Also, I doubt Basayen will be the first chosen. He's certainly more possible to be first than some, such as Sam or Sasha, but Mead Mix and possibly Aurora are going to be choices the council will make more quickly, in favor or otherwise. Autumn Swift won't be too difficult either, but she's a newcomer as much as I am.

I dunno, I suspect Sam will be chosen pretty quickly because unlike every single other choice Sam has no hidden motives. Honesty tends to be a good policy in this setting.

No, he's just psychopathic.
And since they're hidden motives(which basically noone seems to have, actually; even Basayen's being honest about why he wants to join. He could spy without joining the pioneers a hell of a lot easier than he could going with them.), they wouldn't know we had them.

Edit: Not to be rude to you or your character, but you said he was trying to resist mass murdering all of the people who are talking. Child or not, that is psychopathic(or possibly sociopathic, since he's resisting). Children do not want to kill people simply because they are bored. Unless they are disturbed.

Psychopathic, but completely honest about it all. Plus he is from a species thats basically used as nothing but war beasts. It's in his nature to want to kill things but unlike most of his kind he actively resists his nature. Less Psychopathic then the rest of his kind at the very least.

Also we were talking to the most intelligent people in Equestria including a diplomat, a trader and a military general all 3 jobs which require you to be an extremely good judge of character I'm pretty sure at least 1 of them can tell that someone is hiding something from them.

Don't worry about being rude I made him this way for a reason.

Oh, concerning the bet: The first person chosen isn't the 'best' candidate, per se. It's actually random. In this way, there is more risk involved, because however much you are sure of your claim, there's still a two-in-three chance your name won't be spoken first.

I mean, I was considering saying all three candidates split the pot, but since there's a distinct possibility the three players will be chosen, I'd just be giving all of you free magic items. This way, whoever wins can choose to give the stakes back to the others chosen, or choose to keep them.

Oh, and Patrick, Sam has more to bet than you might think...

Uhm like what? I never gave him any items at all so he has nothing to bet unless you gave him something. Which doesn't help much because I have no idea what you gave him which still means I can't place any bets.

You could bet servitude if you really wanted. Maybe a minotaur horn?

Edited my post as needed, my apologies Silcugar, I hope that's a bit better.

I do not have concrete item list for you yet but I am working on it.

I ain't cutting off my horns lol I need them and I ain't gonna bet on becoming a slave. It'd invariably ruin the game if one of you won.

All I have that's suitable is my diamond brush, which I'm not about to bet...and money. But we never really established how much I have and so far there's no indicator of what the economy is like, so I'm hesitant to make something up. Anyway, think I'll refrain. Might want to establish what happens if somebody not participating is chosen first though. Does everyone get their contribution back, or will the first of those betting be considered the winner?

Unrelated, Rolepgeek...how are zebras making magic items? When Basayen said his tribe had more powerful magic than unicorns, I assumed he was speaking metaphorically in a 'the pen is mightier than the sword' sense. Zecora from the show was not ever demonstrated to be capable of magic at all. She was a alchemist/herbalist. I'm not sure that translates into making any magic items besides potions, salves and maybe dyes and things. Zebras don't have horns just like they don't have wings...so saying that the zebra tribe is better at magic than unicorns makes about as much sense to me as saying that they fly better than pegasi. How would they do it at all, let alone better?

Because their magic does not work the same way unicorns does?

Because I get to make up basically everything about zebras because of how little there is?

Because Zecora, though the sole representative of her race in the show, neither represents the entire race and it's capabilities nor the race at this point in time?

Not being hostile, just sayin'.

Though, 'pen is mightier than sword' is quite close to it. ;)
