That should really be "phaser", since lasers can't stun (they can 'burn', and 'burn more'). Phasers (from Star Trek, conformed by the response) magically have the ability to stun all (or most, as plot demands) living beings without harming them (or completely destroy them in a flash of red light.)

I guess the skepticism about dating a Trekkie is justified. The person delivering this pickup line isn't a Trek geek after all!
