Request a Game - Say what you'd want to Play
« on: October 08, 2013, 06:35:22 pm »

Sometimes I get to thinking "Boy, I'd really like to see X sort of game." or "Golly, more Y's would be just swell!" and so I searched and couldn't find a thread for such a thing.

Basically in this thread you just post what sort of games you'd like to see. Themes [Pikmin, fantasy, sci-fi, nior, mystery, suggestion, etc], Types [Competitive, Cooperative, PBP RPGs, etc] or even a very sepcific game [Let's do DnD or something of the sort]

And if you're a GM who wants to do a new sort of game you can always help out these fine folks by setting up that particular game.

So anyway, go ahead and "Request a Game"

A god game where the point isn't to make different civilizations to kill each other, but you collaborate in a pantheon to create a civilization. You then will have to lead this civilization against older gods and their pantheons.

Maybe something like You Are Islanders, but less overcomplicated so people can actually run it.

This sounds awesome.

I clicked your link and tried to figure out what it was, let alone how to play it, and couldn't.

So yes, it needs simpler rules.

I approve of this, if you could get enough players to do so.

Here's how I remember it:

1. Create a bunch of stranded islander folks.
2. Give them orders.
3. Watch as they do all sorts of stuff, with varying degrees of success, failure, and awesome. (Say, the one guy getting a tame baby T. rex!)
4. Be sad when the GM gives up due to sheer complexity of the game.

Well, if the game were less complicated, then it would run smoother, no?

I followed the link, saw the 9001 spoiler tags of rules, and closed the tab.
Yes, yes, simpler would be better...

I am also interested with the pantheon collaborate-on-a-civilization. With the good rules you could create some interesting mechanics.
Not sure about leading them against another pantheon, knowing bay12 it will be hard enough to get anywhere with so much conflicting insanity.

I would also be interested in an evolution game, with the usual roles inverted. The GM is a species and must make it evolve and adapt, while the players are the environment and throw random natural pressure on it (preys, parasites, predators, competition, climate change, meteoreoid impact...). GM has the right not to apply abusive suggestion (1000km asteroid <-got that one once, several inconsistent successive climate change...)

Turn based God game with mechanics like this:

Gods sleep most of the time, and get awake for seconds\minutes\hours to make actions to change the word.  GM process his action (and only his) then it goes to the next god and so on

During their sleep gods can talk with each other, so roleplay elements remains, but  that's all what gods can do

Oh, and no directs attacks on the gods possible...

I've actually been wanting to play a Star Wars themed game for a while where some players are imperials and others are rebels, but nobody knows for sure who is which. I've considered running a game like that, but haven't yet figured out how to set it up in a way I like.
