Pomson isnt even good in pubs it just fucks shit up in comp because ubers are so important and 10% is a pretty big advantage.

and all the weapons have recipes anyway so if you really really want an item it's not hard to get one.

So, ah.  I've taken to building Bane with power treads + two null talismans and then eventually a bigger item if my team is doing well.  This objectively, stupid.  Bane's right clicks pretty much don't exist after the laning phase and the extra health and mana isn't bad but it isn't really necessary.

I think its because Bane really needs smart teammates and no one in DOTA seems to know how Bane works.  Nightmare can only be used on allies or solo because if you use it on an enemy one of your allies will immediately grab that sweet candy up.  Enfeeble is great but purely a support ability for when you have allies around.  That's two abilities that, depending on your teammates, might as well not exist.  Multiple null talismans/wraith bands/bracers will give anyone a good midgame, even Bane.

I play him mostly for his amazing laning phase.  I have trouble with him after that...

Just FYI, Bane has pretty decent base stats and stat gain. It might not be wise to put money that could go into a force staff or blink dagger into more stats, especially after a good laning phase.

I think you'll find your midgame a lot easier when you can zip around more.

Here's more tips:

1. Brain sap deals pure damage, not magic damage. Also it will ALWAYS heal you for the max amount even if the enemy has 1hp. Basically treat it as a 300hp heal. It's kinda like a long-distance single target Omniknight heal in that regard.
2. Nightmare has one of the best projectile dodge animations in the game. I believe a solid full second after nightmare is cast, the target is invulnerable. So you can use it to juke stuns and stuff.
3. Remember if you haven't used brain sap, shift-click brain sap while channeling fiend's grip. It's more efficient.
4. It's probably not a good idea to get all his skills. Usually people just choose two and skip the last till last. For example, if there's no big right clickers, then there's no point getting enfeeble. It'll make your mana pool a lot more versatile and the bonus stats are always nice.

I don't think he's particularly useful though. I always found him kinda meh. Normally I just build 6 mangos on him, go into lane and spam brain sap until the enemy rage quits.

There's one other thing to note about Nightmare: after the first second of invulnerability on the target, all spells affect the target normally.

Soul Ring on Bane used to be a thing because it basically reads "Nuke an enemy for 300 and gain 100 health." Not really sure why it stopped being a thing.

First of all, I don't build WW in the typical/recommended way.  I get artic burn first but max it as late as possible due to its poor scaling.  If anything I would attribute to my success to the artic burn + splinter blast combo, which is almost literally guaranteed to deal at least half of your lane rival's current health at any point in the laning phase.  That alone makes WW a ludicrous zoner.  But add it to the fact that most low level pub teams run duo offlanes and that combo can be applied to two people at once at no additional mana cost and... yeah.  Its kind of ridiculous.  If my laning partner is a potato we'll "merely" stay in lane, otherwise we'll crush them and they'll get no last hits.  I also don't nearly buy the recommended items:
Starting: Courier + tangos + ring of protection + 2 clarities + 2 branches
Early/Core: flying courier > boots > wand > ring of basilious > buy ring of health, disassemble ring of basilious to make tranquil boots > soul ring > force staff.  Intersperse with support consumables as required.
From there: Glimmer cape, medallion, BoT, in whatever order

I do think I might be getting matched with people bellow my skill level or something.  I also got very lucky with my win streak that no one disconnected 10 minutes in or whatever.  That being said supporting really does make a notable difference, probably the best way to carry pubs solo (or maybe second best, after mid).  WW is fun too because 3/4 of her spells don't give a shit how late the game has gone.  If I have any complaint about her it would be that her ult is a bit weak at the moment but with force staff + ult + medallion + splinter blast you can be reasonably sure of a kill if your enemies are dumb enough to bunch up.  If nothing else it has exploitable quirks; you can use it to force invs heroes to break invisibility or to stun someone through BKB.  Also great for disengaging, like a baby version of Naga Siren's ult.

I dunno, fun hero, underrated at the moment.  Best as a counter pick to physical lineups and certain heroes (Legion Commander, Pudge, Huskar).

If anything, I think you're playing wyvern the way the pros play her. If you caught any of the TI5 action, she was one of the best supports in that meta. Then she took a nerf bat to the face.

Karma has struck after the 20 streak.  Had to face an (at least) two stack of people with pretentious names with the word "pro" and a bunch of symbols in their name.  One of them went this incredibly obnoxious cowardly AM split pushing strategy.  First game, I say "supporting offlane unless no one else wants to go offlane".  All other lanes get called, remaining person doesn't call role.  Locks Warlock at the last second.  They did not know how to play Warlock.  AM solos against us and we still can't shut him down.  Warlock keeps casting fatal bonds on AM even though that doesn't do anything except push the creeps and waste mana.

Second game I get the same stack, get a competent Jugg to support, crush the enemy team... and Jugg disconnects, our Viper suicides into the enemy team in frustration and then ragequits.  And then Jugg comes back, but its too little too late.

I need to get new friends to play this game with. I more or less cut myself off from the previous group because they were toxic as all hell and it was affecting my behavior as well.

Also, I used to have a 70-some winrate with Omniknight, but recent games have brought me down to 67%.
