So, I'm just learning and I stick to unranked pick all while I learn the ropes.  Usually one other person calls role.  My experience is that if I don't hard support, no one does and we lose.  Plus its kinda fun.  What I really want to do tho is beefy strength heroes like Earthshaker and Undying in a position 4 support or offlane role.
Try going abaddon support. Besides being incredibly tanky, he's practically a guaranteed win. I use him to climb MMR sometimes.

He had a bloodstone for a while, I guess he sold it for boots of travel (which he didn't even use, our Throne got killed by creeps when we were all pushing).  Still seems like an... odd choice on a hero that comes with a free self deny, but Techies is mana-hungry?

Sniper's skill build is also pretty funny.  He didn't get his second level of Shrapnel until level 23.  Like, 30% AoE slow?  Nah, I'd rather have six agility and some other stats I don't need :/

Both teams were pretty potato.  As far as I can tell, four of their teammates TPed to the bottom rune the moment the game started and ganked techies in the river, and then all four of them went bottom.  I just hugged the tower until they got the message and went away.  Techies for some reason only trapped the bottom rune and the stairways surrounding it, which was great for me but seems like it ruins the point of laying traps if the enemy can figure out where they are via pattern recognition.  Then when we were defending our base he only placed them in the exact same spot on the low ground in front of the mid tower.  Ursa was the deciding factor in the game by being sort of good and killing Rosh repeatedly.

You misspelled seance.  Are possessing Draignean?  Are you actually a ghost in the shell? You have to tell us if you are, that's the rule

In reference to that Riki post made in November, Riki is now dogshit.

Edit : Old Riki was a massive noob trab, but even if the enemy bought wards, you had ridiculous chase and you could just farm a lane and run away when they come to gank you. If you make the supports pay the ward tax enough without killing you to make up for it, you end up being a pretty good damage dealer even if they're super prepared. I was 15 - 3 on old Riki.

Ursa is consistently terrifying regardless of involved skill level :P

So, ah, I never see anyone playing her, but Winter Wyvern is pretty crazy.  One basic attack with a single skill point in Artic Burn will take over 30% of a hero's health away regardless of their health and armor stats, provided they start at max health.  You can just walk into a duo lane and be like "your day is ruined, your day is ruined, everyone's day is ruined!"  And since only one of her nukes scales damage, you can reach your full nuking potential at level 7.  Artic Burn and Winter's Curse keep their damage 100% into the lategame (and fricken Winter's Curse pierces BKB because why not) while Cold Embrace will still resist the most fed of carries.  She feels so powerful at every stage of the game.

Agreed.

Wyvern got nerfed hard, that's why you don't see anyone playing her any more. Cold embrace is great setup for your enemies to get into position for something like Mirana's Sacred Arrow or Lina's LSA. Winter's Curse now only works well if your opponents have one fed carry and 4 starved supports.

This is a dumb question but... something I've wondered whenever I watch a pro match with Dark Seer involved.  He always ion shells a melee creep and then sends it into lane.  Why doesn't his laning enemy ever try to kill that creep?  They'll even stand in the ion shell radius but they won't do anything about it.

Getting your lane pushed in a certain amount is good for you during the laning phase. It makes for easier XP and (at that level of play especially) less contested last hits.

Ok but if the enemy wants the ion shelled creep to survive why does Dark Seer waste mana casting it?

DS gets gold if an enemy creep dies to the ion shell, which is fairly likely to happen since ion shell ticks so often. Unless an enemy is around, in which case it makes denying a bit easier AFAIK.

Got it.

While we're talking about pro gaming, "it was like he had a tango and just got eaten" ~commentator describing Treant Protector ulting and then immediately getting crit by Ember Spirit.
